My friend's and I were in a predicament. We had been kayaking on the Gulf of Mexico when a severe storm came through, forcing us inland. We chose Ocala due to its proximity to the beautiful fresh water springs. Unfortunately the storm had followed us so camping at a state or national forest park was out of the question, so we started looking at reviews for hotels in the area. We chose the Red Roof based on reviews, economy and location.
We called ahead to confirm the AAA rate and headed to the hotel. There are several fast food restaurants within 1 mile, which is convenient. The hotel offers complimentary hot beverage 24 hours a day, including coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and various latte drinks. The young lady, Kimberly, at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly and gave us a awesome tip for a great local restaurant, Mojos - killer food and great beer selection!
Anyway, the helpful and friendly customer service continued the next day - the manager and front desk staff were full of helpful suggestions and local information. I cannot remember staying anywhere with such an enthusiastically friendly staff.
The hotel offers comlimentary breakfast from 6:30 - 9:30 every morning with includes fresh fruit, bagels, assorted pastries, cereal, OJ, milk and, best of all, a Belgian waffle maker that is self serve and easy to use.
The room was spacious and very clean with a large window, which was very convenient to keep an eye on our kayaks on our vehicle in the parking lot.
Bathroom was spotless and housekeepers were very helpful and friendly.
My ONLY complaint was that the pillows were super flat! A tiny price to pay though considering the excellence of every other aspect of the hotel.
One more comment - I really appreciate the fact that Red Roof is pet friendly. It is awesome to see pets and their owners strolling around the property - it adds to the warmth of the atmosphere of the hotel.
I will absolutely, 100% choose to stay at the Ocala Red Roof Inn again.
A note to the proprietor of this particular Red Roof: I'm sure you already know that you have a fantastic staff, but I would just like to emphasize that, without their genuine friendly helpfulness, your hotel would not be as successful as it currently is. Everyone we encountered during our 2 night stay was a perfect example of fantastic customer service.
