BONITA SPRINGS, FLORIDA
Sep 20, 2008 | Trip type: Couples

Our most pleasant experience at this B&B was meeting the cheerful lady who checked us in. The rest of the staff was also quite nice. We also found the bed to be very comfortable. We did not like the cluttered and over furnished room because walking to the bathroom in the dark was treacherous and my wife has the black and blue mark to prove it. The bath and shower were very nice and there was plenty of hot water and lots of towels.
The most disappointing thing about this place was the breakfast which was not served until 9AM and was meager and of poor quality. Being in Florida we might have expected fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit, unfortunately the only juice choice was commercial grapefruit juice and the fruit cup consisted of canned fruit. The quiche was about the size of a pile of 6 silver dollars and looked lost on the plate, it was also coated with sugar. We were also served the smallest blueberry muffin we have ever seen which was too ugly to chance tasting. We complained about the food and the nice waitress explained that there were more guests than had been expected. No more food was offered. We left and had breakfast on the road.

  • Liked — Comfortable bed, good shower.
  • Disliked — Terrible breakfast. Inadequate lighting for reading.

I have to admit I was a little surprised to read some of the negative reviews of this property. As an Innkeeper myself, and having probably an even more critical eye than most, I found the Inn to be clean and very comfortable, with each room meticulously decorated and unique.
The breakfasts are delightful - the chicken pastry very different from what one would get at Waffle House, so for those whose comments berated the breakfast, I would recommend they stick to Holiday Inn or Motel 6. The beauty of a bed and breakfast is that they are so totally different from your run of the mill hotel. With regards to the comments about a pet-fee, the statement that an Inn is "pet friendly" does not mean that there is no charge for pets. Most people who travel with their pets know this. The dinner charge is certainly not excessive since bed and breakfasts that do provide dinner - since they are catering for such small numbers - barely cover their food cost when considering the time it takes to put together a gourmet meal. I would recommend that potential guests are not deterred by the negative reviews, and come and see this little gem for themselves. All I can say is WOW! We stumbled across the one of a kind Historic Inn while looking online for places to stay. Then we looked here to see if there were reviews. Since we were there in Ocala we though why not go for one night despite what we read on the negative side. It all seemed to far fetched to be as bad as people had written. It sounded liked things were almost deliberately written on the negative. Set in the lovely historic village of Ocala were two very colorful Victorian Homes. One built in 1888 which was the pink house and we were told by the Manager that it was the original Seven Sisters B&B. The other house built around 1892 is the International House added around the year 2000. Both houses are just breath taking and just a treasure chest of excitement just waiting to be opened. From the rooms that are dedicated to the seven Sisters to the rooms in the international house that are foreign countries. We were greated warmly as you would expect from a three diamond establishment. After we checked in we we re given a tour of both homes. We even had the choice to upgrade to another room if we so chose but our room was delightful. We stayed in the Egypt Room. One just has to see this inn for themselves. The website is nice but to see it in person is AWESOME! Breakfast was top notch. Our first breakfast there was wonderful french toast with Bananas Foster with a dallop of vanilla whipped cream on the top sprinkled with crushed walnuts. It was served with smoked sausage and two very tasty sliced of native Florida water melon. Afternoon tea on our check in day was BEAUTIFULLY arranged and the choice of goodies was fun. We so enjoyed our reserved night so well that we asked if the room was available for two more nights. It was....we stayed. Our second night there was a candle light dinner scheduled and we joined in. FABULOUS dinner and atmosphere. Hard to beleive this was Ocala Florida. Our dinner was sumptuous...pistachio encrusted chicken was the main entree. The other courses that went with it were just as wonderful and it was very resonable at $55 per person. We felt like we were in some far away place in a land of enchantment. We were treated like royalty and were made to feel at home. We hated to leave at the end of our stay. The owners Bonnie and Ken were gracious as we expected by looking at their creation there. They both are pilots which made our stay even more exciting knowing that things actually came from India, Egypt, China, Paris and Argentina. The Bali dining room was amazing. Colorful at every glance and music that seemed to just take you to the far corners of the world. In the parlor sat a very cute parlor grand. The manager Charlie plays the piano. On our tour he actually sat down and played it for us. What a treat that was! The other Innkeepers we met Cyndee and Nita were very professional and gracious. Always willing to help with anything we needed. The house keeping staff is top level as our room was always supplied with what ever we were in need of and the other rooms we went to view were all very clean and orderly. We are definately returning to Florida and will make sure we arrange our travel plans so we can stay at the Seven Sisters Inn. Next time we want to be there when they have their famous murder mystery dinner. Can you imagine??? Take our advice and check out the seven sisters inn. If you can't go visit them then look at their website and take a visual tour of this wonderful enchanting property. After going back and reading these few posts that are negative I can only imagine that is was reflecting what kind people that they were personally. We certainly did not find anything like that at all. We have recommended this inn to friends and those that have stayed already have had the same experience that we have had. There should be more places like the Seven Sisters Inn.

From the moment we drove up to the beautiful 1888 Victorian, we knew we had made the right decision of where to stay in Ocala. Once inside we were amazed at the charm & ambiance. The owners keen insight on decoration was obvious. As we peeked in every open door we could we were in awe, the home seemed to radiate relaxation!
The owners, Ken & Bonnie, were wonderful people. Their devotion to their Bed & Breakfast, as well as the people staying there, made us feel as welcome as family.
The staff was friendly, courteous, and eager to help with anything we needed.
The breakfast was incredible. Light, yet filling, we enjoyed the freshness and high quality of the food they served.

Overall, there is not one negative remark I could make on review of this Inn. Without question this will be the Bed & Breakfast we measure all others against. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I just got home from a five night stay at the Seven Sisters. It was one of the best "hotel" stays I have ever had.
It was the small details that made a difference. Soft drinks in the fridge., wine and afternoon snacks as well as a great three course breakfast.
I'm not really one to go for a bed and breakfast, but the staff was available, but not overly so.
