My husband and I stayed here last week for one night, while researching condo rentals for next winter. We had a beachfront room on the third floor. Sunset was phenomenal. The beach is very hard sand and easy to walk on for miles. We were concerned about the Tiki Bar below our balcony but it turned out to be a bonus. We sat on the balcony all evening, listening to Calypso music by the light of the Tiki torches. And at 10:30 off went the lights and the music so we could have a good night's sleep. The bed, linens, towels, etc. were of the usual excellent Hilton quality. Our breakfast was included in our package. Although the coupon was for the Calypso combo, our waitress said we could have any breakfast off the menu, except the more expensive steak and eggs. The omelettes we both had were fine, in contrast to a previous writer's experience. We were told of the charge for wireless internet in our room, but we tried and accessed the system without problem or charge. We would definitely stay here again, hopefully on a higher floor.

Loved this hotel for it's location and beautiful room and balcony looking out on a spacious beach. Beach chairs with coverings were available at a very reasonable rate. The beach bar was a pleasure and it was located adjacent to the pool and beach. I would stay here again without hesitation. On the weekend a barbecue was offered on the outdoor patio with music provided by a live ensemble.

“Nice hotel but so-so area”

Stayed there a week ago. Its a nice clean hotel. Half of the rooms also have a direct ocean view with a balcony and the hotel is directly on the beach. The rooms had been renovated.

From the outside, the hotel is not much of a looker and the elevator is slow and old but the rest is all new. Its one of the only ones in the area that's directly on the beach apart from the Sheraton at Sand Key which is very nice and about 10 minutes away by car. Most of the other buildings are condo rentals. There was however a nice small motel next door (Sails Motel) with a pool that looked nice.

They have a caribean restaurant and a beachfront terrace and bar part which is fun for lunch and cocktail. Food was good for lunch and supper but breakfast was not so good. Stick to the basics for breakfast. Avoid the omelet !

We had very good service from all the staff.

The pool is a nice area overlooking the beach. Its a bit cold however as they maintain it at 76.

Beach was nice but a little bit crowded but there is a one of the nicest beach in the states (fort de soto) about 20 minutes by car or you can just walk a little beach further down the beach. Plenty of activities (jetski, sail etc...) but expensive. Parking was free which was great because you had to have a car as there's nothing much in this area.

Avoid ClearWater Beach as there was extensive roadwork and miles of traffic and its rather tacky and for spring breakers.

We travelled in the area and there are two other areas that are worth looking at : Siesta, Lido and Longboat Keys (a bit down south near Sarasota) have the nicest beaches and there was also a family-type area called Pass-a-grill near St-Petes which was nicer. The rest (St-Pete's Beach, Treasure Island, Clearwater beach) is not up to par with other southern destinations and a bit outdated.

“Loved the Doubletree”

This was the second time at this hotel and I really like it. Our balcony overlooked the beach and the sunsets are far better from your balcony than anywhere in Key West. The hotel's outdoor tiki bar is fantastic. Just sip Pina Colata's or have a beer while watching a great sunset every night. While we were there they had an outdoor barbecue. The restaurant food is great. You can eat inside or outside by the beach. I loved taking an early morning walk on the beach. There are miles of beach in back of this hotel. They sometimes have hula girls dancing to music or playing limbo for entertainment at night. Lots of places to go that are nearby, such as Clearwater or south to Madeira Beach.

“Good Value with excellent beach”

We stayed here from March 20-27th, 2007. It was better than expected with a freindly staff nice chocolate chip cookies freshly cooked anytime you want them. Great beds, very comfortable, good sized rooms and balconies, lovely pool and beach, lots of restaurants ,shopping, movies and other things to do with-in a 20 minute radius. Some restaurant suggestions are: J.T.'s, Frog Pond and Lighthouse Donuts. Great scenery just watch the crazy drivers as no one signals or drives at posted speeds which strange because there is a lot of police around with people pulled over. This place I feel would be great for couples or families.
