I dined with family of seven, including two children. No reservations are taken, but I called ahead for seating and had no wait when we walked in at the appointed hour. This despite no where to park in their large lot or even close by on the street. No table remained unoccupied during our two-hour dinner and this is likely why the kitchen was a little slow. At 6:15 p.m. on Friday night the party was in full swing. Don't try to have a conversation -- the noise level precludes that. We were startled when apparently a conch shell was blown in honor of a birthday.
Wait service was excellent and the food gets mixed reviews. My fish tacos with grouper were flavorless and lacking grouper. The primary taste was of the flour tortilla. However, the side of red potato salad was nicely tangy and served in a large portion. I heard no complaints about other orders of a grilled pork chop, mahi mahi and a shrimp po' boy. The kids' meals left much to be desired. Mac and cheese was clearly Kraft's (as the menu states) but arrived with no garnish or other accompaniment that would make it visually appealing to a child. Likewise, the grilled cheese was actually cheese toast put together as a sandwich with a smidgen of butter/margarine on the inside. Sharp cheddar was not a good choice for a child. Together with the fries this item was also visually unappealing. Only one person had dessert, consisting of a large brownie beautifully presented with ice cream. The server thoughtfully brought additional spoons without being asked.
I would more likely eat here again if I wanted to have a "beach experience".
