“Can't wait to go back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

We stayed in Ram Sea I, unit 509 in August 2012. It was amazing!!! That unit is a corner unit and I would say you would definitely want to be on that side of the building. There is a smaller hotel next to it so you have an unobstructed view from your side windows. The unit is huge!! The pictures do not do it justice. Almost everything has been updated as well. Beds were very comfortable. Building staff helpful and friendly. I had one minor thing I called for help - the WIFI was connecting intermittently. They had their phone/IT person in touch with me in less than an hour (it was probably even quicker than that, but who keeps track of time on vacation?)

We have stayed on this beach before but this was our first time at Ram Sea. We will be back!! The pool was a very good size compared to hotels in the area. The jacuzzi was large as well. The deck areas were very nice. Ram Sea I has the jacuzzi, Ram Sea II has the pool. Both are for use by guests of either building. There were always plenty of chairs.

This unit's kitchen is well-stocked with tons of dishes, glasses, pots, pans, etc. Even rubbermaid containers for leftovers. We didn't lack for any utensils, etc. The furniture is new - it's comfortable and tasteful. The bedding was very pretty and soft. The closets are both walk-in closets and there was plenty of dresser space too.

A wish list item for this unit would be an in-unit washer and dryer. We did use the one in the building, but it was smaller than I would have wanted and would have been nice to have one in-unit.

As first-time condo renters (we've always stayed at a hotel), we loved having so much space and a full kitchen. A small supply of paper towels and kleenex would be nice to have with the rental. I have heard of some condo rentals giving a 'starter basket' of supplies. They do supply you with dishwasher soap for one wash so that is helpful. Plenty of towels were provided. We had two adults and one 4 year old in our party and there were more towels than we could use.

We will definitely be back to this unit!!

Room Tip: The corner unit we had was amazing!!!

Dear KMiller1969:
Greetings from the beaches. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. So glad you liked 509. There is such a huge difference between staying in a vacation rental vs staying in a standard hotel room. It is truly nice to be able to have a little space and privacy. Please come back and see us and thanks again...

Our vacation was June 2-9; this was our first time at both Redington Beach and Ram Sea. We had a very enjoyable week, but, the weather was very rainy; we didn't get to see even one of the amazing gulf sunsets from our gulf-front balcony or any where else - darn!

We liked Ram Sea and Redington Beach very much. The Ram Sea property was very well-maintained and we found the staff to be quite friendly. Both buildings are a short walk from sand to water. Our only issue with the property itself was that the elevators are really slow and very hot inside (this got a bit old being there a whole week).

We stayed in Ram Sea II, unit #511. A beautiful unit with a recent, high-end renovation. The unit was lovely and very well-equipped. Our only negative was all the beds were VERY HARD.

We would definitely stay at Ram Sea again, but, next time in the Ram Sea I building. Why? In the Ram Sea II building you have quite a bit of noise from the pool below, even on our 5th floor. Ram Sea I has the hot tub and was much quieter (if that matters to you); this might not be an issue for those w/kids.

We went around to lots of the other beach areas and we were happy with Redington beach. Do eat at Conch Republic, they make everything from scratch; best fried zucchini, caesar salad and apple pie (we ate there three times!).

Hello SJeffrey/MD and Greetings from the Beaches,

So very glad you enjoyed your stay with us in 511. You are correct in that the owners just did a major remodeling. (Winter of 2012). That vacation rental is pretty fabulous. Sorry about the elevators. They are hydraulic and a bit slow...good that there are only 30 condos in that building. But...Ram Sea I has some very nice vacation rentals as well.

The Conch is excellent. We locals are there as often as our visitors. I love the coconut shrimp!

Hope you find your way here again. Thanks for taking the time to review.

Take care,

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

Our family of 4 spent a week here in April 2012.

We were in a 2 bedroom condo on the 5th floor (509). I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We booked in the UK through Trailfinders but used the JC resorts website to look inside the condos.

We chose 509 as it was a corner condo on the top floor. The photos on the website did not do it justice.

All of the furniture was new and the place was huge. The views over the sea and beach were amazing. We were all impressed with the pelicans flying past and the dolphins swimming not far from the shore.

I read mixed reviews of the staff here before we went, but we found them to be great. They were professional and friendly throughout. We had a problem with the waste disposal - it was checked out within a couple of hours and was fixed within 24 hours.

There was direct access to the beach, which had the most amazing soft white sand. The pool area and pool was a little on the small side, but never a problem for us, with loungers always available. I don't know if it's busier during the summer.

There wasn't too much going on within walking distance (we knew this before we went) but lots within driving distance.

We loved the place and are hoping to return in the future.

Room Tip: Use the JC resorts website to pick your condo.

We have stayed at Ram Sea periodically for many years. We enjoy the location and outside amenities. The beach is great for walking, the poor and hot tub are very nice, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it is close to restaurants and shopping. You seldom need to leave the island area (which is great because there's too much traffic inland). The units are individually owned and the furnishings can vary in quality. Be sure to check the photos online before selecting a unit. A couple of years ago we got a unit with old drawers, too much owner "junk" in the cupboards, sloppy beds, etc. This year we got a nice, modern unit with great beds and nice furniture (Unit 306). If renters shun the poorly equipped units the owners will be forced to upgrade in order to rent regularly. There is only one elevator in each building and they are slow.

Room Tip: Don't select a unit beside the elevator or garbage chute. They can be noisy. Units on lower fl...

Hello Toronto. This was a great review and very helpful for people who have never been to Ram Sea. One of the best features now is the ability to select a vacation rental that suits your specific tastes. You are also very correct with regard to owners taking note and realizing that the nicer the rental the more guests come to enjoy. Thanks for taking the time to write. Hope to see you again soon.

We (my family and friends) Have been coming to Ram Sea for 15 + years. The location is top notch. Condo's come complete with all your kitchen needs all of the condo's come w/balconies. We have never stayed in a bad Condo here.. If you love to grill they have grills. Ram Sea gives you a daily news paper at your door. They have a nice Hot Tub and Swimming pool. This Condo is near many great restaurants - If you want to have a drink at many Pubs that the area offers you can jump on the trolley and get droped back off next to the condo - The only other thing I can say is ENJOY

We stayed in unit #402 in Ram Sea (can't remember if it was I or II; it was the building on the right if you are looking at the condo buildings from the street). The view from the unit was excellent, right on the beach towards the sea. The beach was great, good for kids just steps away from the condo. I would say that the beach isn't as nice as Siesta Keys but still good for shelling and swimming. My kids swam in the pool but it seemed crowded most of the time. Didn't make use of the hot tub, can't comment.

Now the unit. It is an old and tired unit badly in need of a facelift. The unit has one bedroom with 2 double beds. There were 4 of us and it worked out for us even if all of us were sleeping in the one bedroom.

There is water damage in the washroom along the baseboard, the cabinets - like there was constant flooding on the floors or something and it was never fixed. The bathtub is unpleasant, black mold along the grout, took us a while to work out the shower.

The kitchen lacked several useful utensils and it was a collection of mismatched items from the 1970's and onwards.

The furniture and decor was old and it conveys the message the owners aren't interested in updating or replacing anything. We had friends staying in another unit just doors away and that unit had nicer appliances, kitchenware, furniture, etc. Lots of tacky knick-knacks around the unit. I say less is more.

Having said all that, was the unit clean? Yes. Was it comfortable for us? Yes. Was it luxurious? No. Was it appealing? Not really. Would I recommend it for another family? No, check out the other units before you settle on this one. For the same amount of money I would rent another unit that's a little better equipped and better maintained. We rented through JC Resorts.

We had an issue with the patio door and someone from maintenance came up pretty quickly to fix it. Front desk downstairs were pleasant enough but didn't really seem to know the area. When we asked for directions to Pier 60, they were trying to send us to St. Pete's Beach when in fact we were trying to get to Clearwater.

There's no covered parking so cars get hot. Covered parking is for owners only.

We went grocery shopping at the nearest Publix. The 2 nearest Walmarts don't have fresh food. We checked out Pier 60 at Clearwater during the day. Not much going on then. I heard it gets better at night. Also visited MOSI, interesting enough but a lot of the exhibitions and activities were broken or missing parts. Plan to spend almost the whole day there. Ate at Sweet Sage Cafe; it was tasty, small portions but $$. Four of us had breakfast and it came out to about $50. Won't be going back.

Overall, North Redington Beach is a nice place for a beach vacation but unit #402 isn't the way to go.

Update on 402... This beachfront vacation rental was completely updated in December of 2011. All new! The owner has done a fabulous job. New pictures will be posted in early June. Thanks for taking the time to add your review. It often helps to have vacation rental owners see things from a guest's perspective.

I stayed at the Ram Sea in July 2011 in room 212. This by far had to be the most outdated, run down room in the entire building. The beds were hard as cement. The bedroom with two double beds had a broken clock on the wall, a remote that didn't work. The bathroom in that bedroom had bugs, flickering lights, mildew in the shower, as well as a leaking faucet. The main bathroom had a broken stopper which we had to reach our hands into the toilet tank and replace after every flush. The room was cleaned only once over 8 days. The elevator has to be the slowest I've ever waited for or been on.

Mind you, we asked maintenance to fix all the above problems which were never resolved. We've stayed at the Ram Sea at least 10 times across the past 20 years and never has it been so bad. Perhaps the rest of the building is in better condition, but a room like this seriously has me reconsidering where I stay on my next vacation.
