We are big fans of Ruth's Chris, so it was no surprise that we enjoyed our food. If you're even questioning whether or not to dine here based on the menu, JUST DO IT.
The only issue we had is in regards to the staff. The hostess is Brazilian and her understanding of English is evidently not that great. When we arrived, she seated us right next to the door and kept staring at us. It went on long enough that my husband was about to get up and ask if there was a problem, but she ended up coming over and asking if we needed anything. We said we were doing fine and could we please see a wine list. I guess she didn't understand, because she brought us their "bar menu" for happy hour, which has cheeseburgers and small tapas type dishes. Keep in mind, this was 7 pm...clearly not happy hour. Again, just a misunderstanding, really not a big deal...until we realized that at this point we'd been sitting there for at least 10 minutes with no wine menu, no water, no server, no nothing. Finally a waiter came over, brought the water and the proper menu, took our drink order and things seemed to be turning the corner. Until ANOTHER waiter came over, in a different uniform, and tried to take our order. He claimed the first waiter was not actually a waiter, just a water boy basically, so we gave this second waiter our same order.
Long story short, the hostess messed up everything. The restaurant has happy hour from 4-6 and when there is a large enough crowd that it fills the bar area, they seat them right next to the door (where we were seated). So since the hostess seated us there, the real waiters thought we were there for happy hour and left us alone so the bar staff could take care of us, and the bar staff knew happy hour was over so they left us alone too. Then both sets of servers realized no one was helping us and that's why they both came to help out. They apologized, explained the mixup, and the rest of the night was totally fine. Both servers were very kind and prompt! I guess the point of my review is that if you go for dinner within 3 hours of the designated "happy hour," be sure to state very clearly that you are there for dinner.
