My husband, 7 month baby and I stayed at the Travelodge for 6 nights.....6 nights too many that is.....We could not believe that our travel agent sent us to this filthy dump. When we arrived, we noticed that the room was dirty everywhere.....from the sticky edges of the tables to the stained carpets on the floor. We found this strange because when we arrived, we had to wait for 2 hours to check in due to the fact that our room was being "cleaned". As if this was not bad enough, we noticed that we had bites on our legs and arms a couple of nights after sleeping on the bed. It was only later on, when we had already left that we realized these bites were caused by bed bugs. A pharmacist informed us when she saw the actual bites on us....we desperately needed something to apply because we were literally scratching our skin off because it was so itchy.
We will definitely get our money back because we plan to make a huge stink to the wholesaler, the agent and Travelodge....In the meantime, DO stay away from this dump......It is so worth it to pay double the money in other Miami hotels.......to avoid this terrible experience from happening to you. We are grateful that our baby slept in her play pen that we brought from home, so she was spared the misery. There is also an additional 16.00$ daily fee for parking and beach towel service.......What a rip off!!!!!!

“Good for the money”

Travelodge Monaco/N Miami/Sunny Isles

I am from Maine, 25 and my girlfriend is 23. We stayed here March 4 - 10th and really enjoyed our stay.

Some negative reivews say "Don't expect the Ritz". I paid $85 a night during peak season in a beach front hotel. To stay a night in any of the 50 something story neighbors would 4 times the cost. And what would I get...the same exact beach where I plan to sleep, play and swim. If YOU book with the Monaco YOU have to realize YOU are on a budget and its not the hotel's fault YOU can't get a nicer place. What would make anyone think "the Ritz"?

Here are the somewhat bad things you can expect when you stay here. The beds are horible, truth be told. The kitchenette is a good amenity, but it looked a little shabby so my girlfriend and I cleaned it before using it. Its an old hotel I think the next major construction project will not be a renovation but demolition. It will be a high rise in 10 years. The life of the building is near its end.

Now for the somewhat good things. The hotel staff was friendly to us. And the pool is actually in pretty good condition. On a windy day it is much recomended to get some sun at the pool. Location is great. Our morning walk on the beach led us to the pier where we walk to the road to Einstien Bros to get our coffee. The pier is a good place to eat and drink. The Fish'n'Chips I had were good and my rum runner was great and affordable. Along the road in both directions is a number of restaurants, two liquor stores and two grocery markets within a 10 minute walk. We went to the grocery store and bought most of our lunches and prepared them on our kitchenette.

So I know I'm frugal. This is my last semester in college. I did not rent a car. I did buy most of our food at the grocery store. And I stayed at the Monaco. I will graduate and become an engineer this year and hopefully I will not have to stay at the Monaco or a place like it next time. I recommend this hotel with travelers with a budget. If you can afford something better than stay there.

“Retro Downtown Miami Our 5th stay!”

Travelodge Monaco/N Miami/Sunny Isles

Im 23 and my husband is 28 we both usually stay on South beach however this was our 5th visit to stunning Miami and decided to stay on Miami beach as we had prev visited the Monaco beach front bar on an evening trip. This place has no luxurys but it does give you a true old time flavour of Miami. We sat on the beach getting nicely tipsy whilst locals drank at the bar up to 4am in the morning if you want to stay up the staff are willing to stay up with you. Everyone wanted to help, chat, party. It was like a little..well big family! They rooms were scruffy but still clean (although I did clean things myself when we got there)
You wake up in the morning and your on the beach nothing beats that!
Lets face it theres that much to do we only slept and showered there!!
Im going back there in July this year!,.....cant wait!
Oh Dennys is oerthe road for your beakfast.."Moons over M`Hammi" is to die for! and dont forget to visit Tony Romas (Famous for Ribs) just 2min walk!

“Oh the Monaco”

Travelodge Monaco/N Miami/Sunny Isles

I went down with 8 of my friends for a couple days. You have to take it for what its worth....Our door fell off the hinges, creepy men wandered into our room, the AC didn't work, and many other things.

But there are some good things like being across the street from Denny's, being the smallest hotel on the street (they like the classic look), having an ice maker (that was no where to be found), etc... We had a great time and I would recommend it to any group of college kids who are looking to have a good time for a good price...Don't expect the Ritz

“Popping Springs, no thermastat”

It was priced too high for the quality of rooms. Though the location was fantastic, right on the beach, the old motel has much needed updating. The dead pointsetta plants with their dad leafs in their garden beds should have been a dead give away for the quality we were to expect. The bed springs popped every time you moved and "didn't move". There were no thermastats to control the temps, though they gave you a coffee pot in the room, there was no sugar or cream, the toilet must have been made in the 1940's. You almost had to put your head in the toilet to flush it! There were dirty linens and towels all over propery all times in day.

They charge you a "resort fee" because they "have a pool" and lounge chairs; which by the way, were dirty and some still had bird dung on them.

I will admit, we were able to walk right onto the beach, enjoy the sunrise and sunset. Denny's was across the street for breakfast, and there were many quality places to eat within walking distance as well. Had this not just been a one night stay before cruising, ,we would not have stayed another day....
