We stayed 5 nights the end of Feb. 2006. The best of this resort is the ocean, pool, views. We had a standard 2 bed room. Room was a bit small. Had a balcony view of ocean. The biggest negative was the major construction going on next door, but that was not a problem of the hotel.

Pool was heated. Easy access to the beach, but chair and umbrella cost is $30 per day. If you're staying for more than a few days, you may want to buy an umbrella from Walgreen's across the street.

Service was good all around. Food in the restaurant was just average. Nothing special. We walked from 2-4 blocks north to Tony Roma's, and two Italian restaurants which were all excellent.

Internet cost $9.95 per day, but free in the lobby and at their business center. Parking at all hotels there is expensive usually from $18 up.

Beds were very comfortable. Appreciated the morning papers. Carpeting was a bit tired and will soon need replacing. Rooms were very clean. We would go back to this hotel.

We took a shared limo from Ft. Lauderdal airport. Cost was $14 per person 1-way. Good service. Friends took a taxi at $50 1-way.

Our group of 13 stayed at this resort for 3 nights, pre-cruise. I took a long time deciding where to stay, by using this site and I'm very happy that I chose the Oceanpoint Resort.
Upon arrival we were greeted by warm and friendly staff, with a warm and delicious chocolate chip cookie. We were early but we were able to get into our rooms right away. We had 2-2 Bedroom suites side by side on the 22nd floor. The view from the full ocean front was spectacular, but the other had a good ocean view as well as some construction. This was my room and I didn't care about the construction as I had sun on the deck all day and it was still wonderful. Besides I had the construction guys to wave at in the morning....
Anyway, the unit had everything we needed and mucb more. Having 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen was great and the washer/dryer was a bonus so we could wash up the few clothes just before the cruise.
I booked this almost 1 year in advance and got a great deal. The price had gone up $90/night by the time we got there. Very happy about that.
The only one small thing that surprised me, was that the unit shows some wear on the carpets and walls. Not dirt or grime, just marks. The place was extremely clean and the beds were the best.
I would DEFINITELY stay there again and highly recommend it.
Also, regarding the beach chairs and umbrella's. They charge quite a bit but the will give you a bit of a break if you ask for a better rate for 2 or more days.

Just got back from a trip with 4 girlfriends. We wanted suites so we could hang out together and maximize our time together. The price was right at the Doubletree and our suite was just what we were looking for - 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. However, the common areas of the hotel were a disappointment. If we wanted to sit on the lovely, clean beach in front of the hotel, we had to pay ($10) per lounge chair and that was without the cushion or umbrella. I just think a so-called resort should include beach amenities without nickel and diming its guests. The pool was okay, heated, but small. Service in the lobby restaurant was slow, slow, slow, but I think they were understaffed. In general, the staff was helpful and polite if overwhelmed at times. On a disturbing note, the outdoor bathroom by the pool did not seem to cleaned or even checked during our stay. There were feces on the floor in one of the stalls - yuck!! One other friend and I arranged appointments at the spa and were pleasantly surprised. The facilities were small, but clean with a sauna and steam room. The technicians were excellent! Great massage, great facial. All in all, an okay stay, but I would not go again.

“Lovely Hotel”

The two previous reviewers summed it up perfectly. I'll add that, for one of the few times in my experiences traveling, the room exceeded my expectations.

As for the construction, it is going on everywhere in Miami Beach. We walked up and down the shore and saw numerous buildings underway. After a short while, it is easy to tune out.

I'll also add that the service was wonderful; the consierge was very helpful and each and every employee was friendly.

The extras do add up (valet parking $18, beach chair rental $15/day), but we were expecting it. We figured we could make up for it with the ability to use the full kitchen (and it is a full kitch - full-size fridge, stove, oven, microwave, diswasher) for some of the meals (not that we actually did!).

Overall, great stay - quiet, extremely spacious and comfortable rooms and friendly service. We would go back!

We came here all the way from California with my parents, 2 small children, and my wife. The 2 bedroom suite had 2 full bathrooms and 2 dining rooms in addition to the living room, full kitchen, and spacious foyer. This could not have been more comfortable for our particular family. My parents don't enjoy eating out, and with the little kids and oceanview room, we enjoyed cooking and eating in the suite on the formal dining table. Having stayed for 4 nights, it was very convenient having an "apartment". Anyone could eat when they wanted, get up or go to sleep when they wanted, and not disturb the others. We loved the clean beach and waters (though there was some seaweed, but higher up on the sand). The pool was small, and there was a fee to use the gym. I did not enjoy the $18/day for parking. I would have prefered a self-parking option even if for a lesser cost (if not free), just to not be rushed in and out of the busy driveway (and to save some money on tips). But I guess this is one way for large hotels to make money on properties on expensive pieces of land. The valet was fast though. I agree with some other reviews that the resort itself is kind of small and ok (referring to the lobby, pool, and grounds), but I would definitely recommend and stay again for the spacious, well-appointed rooms, the ocean view, the beachfront location, and the increasingly upscale safe area.
