“Huge place, a little of everything, Old FL kitsch.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I wanted to revisit this childhood haunt, we used to come every year. All those beautiful shells! Still have those, and other tourist souvenirs--plenty--you want something in particular, I am sure they have it! Fudge, candy and ice cream. Christmas shop, though that disappointed me. Indian museum, taxidermy animal mounts (these were pretty interesting). They have a pretty decent jewelry department!

Bathrooms not so good! Needs regular maintenance! Some parts of this old building needs much better lighting!

We did not visit the nature park. Or the flea market, and other activities taking place. Lots of locals and tourists alike seemed to be having a good time though. Worth a stop for a couple hours.

“Shell Factory”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Fort Meyers shell factory is a tourist spot with no entry fee. It has a beautiful and huge collection of shells, which is kept for sale and for viewing. This store also has various rooms in which they have settings like life-sized stuff animals, Pirates, small area for infants to play, some fun stuffs for kids, clothing, toys, shells everywhere, jewelry, ice cream shop, bakery, subway etc. A fun place for both adults and kids.

“Good Weekend Activity for Kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The kids enjoyed this big tourist store full of all kinds of shells with a modest nature park. To get your money's worth, you will need a least a couple of hours to enjoy the miniature golf, bumper boats, paddle boats, nature park with petting zoo, and halls filled with Florida memorabilia, shells, realistic stuffed animals, and arcade. This place is not only for kids, but a peaceful adult afternoon stroll through the store is perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon, or a rainy day. The nature park has more live animals than expected for a small park, and also the petting zoo had animals practically jumping up to eat out of your hands. If you visit during a holiday day or school off day, than expect more people than usual. It is not a must see, but if you have the time, you will enjoy it and possibly learn something new.

“Shells are nice, rest is mediocre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I used to come here as a child (boy has a lot changed since then!), and it is completely different now; not necessarily in a bad way, but I used to love looking around the shop back then. Now some of the souvenirs and trinkets for sale are just that; run-of-the-mill souvenirs and trinkets. I have to say the best part though is the selection of shells! Beautiful brain coral and other coral are for sale, love that :)

“Sunday at the Shell Factory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Took my Mom (86) out to the Shell Factory Sunday. They had lots going on food from North Fort Myers restaurant, little car show about 15 cars and trucks, and a DJ. The store itself is getting a little run down. Needs someone to come in and clean it up and fix all the light that are out and it would help a lot. Two fun things the two up side down christmas trees were great and the Calendar Girls put on a good show. Love this place just needs a little fix up and clean up. Mom liked the ice cream. No grandkids with us today Just 3 over 60.
