“Sunday at the Shell Factory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Took my Mom (86) out to the Shell Factory Sunday. They had lots going on food from North Fort Myers restaurant, little car show about 15 cars and trucks, and a DJ. The store itself is getting a little run down. Needs someone to come in and clean it up and fix all the light that are out and it would help a lot. Two fun things the two up side down christmas trees were great and the Calendar Girls put on a good show. Love this place just needs a little fix up and clean up. Mom liked the ice cream. No grandkids with us today Just 3 over 60.

“Tourist trap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The first time I visited this shop was a fun experience, a lot of gifts and Florida themed stuff to browse through. But once was enough for me, it is just overpriced junk really and on our recent trip I quickly walked through and then sat outside on the benches to "people watch", which was more fun. My neice however stayed inside forever, spent too much and just loved it since this was her first trip ever to Florida. We enjoyed a nice lunch at the Seafood restaurant there although that too was quite pricey. As you walk in there is a big lobster tank that is set-up as "the claw game" where you can win a lobster if you can grab one in the metal claws. My neice of course tried it for the 3 bucks and quickly watched the slimey creature slide out of the claw. Oh well.. a nice time but if you are on a budget be warned.

“Cheesy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

If you are looking for some very old fashioned Florida this is it. Store, park, tiki bar something for everyone. Bring the young grand kids , not fancy but worth spending an hour or so. Great shell store with fair prices. Remember I said cheesy

“A nice 2 hour stop”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Wife, daughter and I enjoyed this location. It is a large tourist stop. Gifts everywhere, lots to look at and plenty to do. There are numerous rooms with different settings like christmas, halloween, jungle animals, shells, clothing, gifts, subway, bakery, ice cream and shells everywhere. They have an outdoor fela market and other scheduled events. Outdoors is a nature park at $12 for adults. It is nto a zoo just a private collection of live animals. It was a relaxing walk around a small confined area. This was not a destination, just a place to stop if in the area and looking for a little something different to do. If you have kids this place will keep them interetsed for hours.

“Run down”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Was a happening place in it's day, but it's quite run down now. Sad for us locals who have seen its decline. That being said, it's great for out of towners who are visiting for the 1st time.
