“Amazing time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

I had the pleasure of staying here with my husband in late September. we hadn't pre booked as we were touring around Florida without knowing for sure where we would stop and stay each night. The minute we arrived in Captiva we knew it was our kind of place, it's so chilled and laid back with an amazing atmosphere. After trying a few obvious places to stay, which were fully, booked we kind of stumbled on Jenson on the gulf. Imp so glad we did, as I never stay anywhere other then here when in Captiva.
We checked in, in their office on the bay side (5 min walk) the guys there were so helpful and friendly. We stayed in the main house in apartment 3. It was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated they stocked everything including beach towels. I loved how you could just grab a chair or lounger and take it (in just 20 short steps) to the beach.
Captiva is small so all the bars and restaurants are with walking distance, sunsets at the mucky duck are I believe obliquity when on the Island and very nice they are too.
The weather was amazing while we were here almost 30c every day. Its really worth making the effort to catch the sunrise at Jensen's pier on the bay side as its spectular and magical it's also a great place to see the manatees both in the morning and evening.
So in all we had a wonderful time on this beautiful island which was far more suited to my husband and I due to the fact we like to be able to walk to bars and restaurants, we were originally thinking of staying in Sanibel but it just didn’t have the village feel to it that Captiva dose, the resorts/hotels were much larger and it was feasible to walk to bars or restaurants.
Jensen's thank you for making our break so special.

We stayed for 3 night and had a great stay, our unit was very nice with a large screened in porch/balcony, 20 steps to the Gulf, lots of chairs and lounges to take with you
down to the beach.
The property was very well taken care of, rooms clean and fresh.
This was our second visit and cant wait to come back.

stayed 3 nights. peaceful and secluded yet just a 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops. we stayed in the p.o. box room for two. really well appointed with large windows, small deck, ground floor. there seemed to be so many amenities in the room, micro, blow dryer, toaster! except an ironing board, which i needed for my dress for a wedding.

a complaint would be the lack of an introduction to the property ie office, beach chairs, what parking spot to take. we checked in at the marina and were told to look for a woman when we got to the 'gulf' units. she was pleasant, but didn't say much. unlocked the door and told us to enjoy our stay. they don't clean the rooms but there were plenty of towels. we did need another bar of soap. lastly, i wasn't happy about the 10am checkout. i realize they have kitchens to clean in many of the rooms, but ours didn't and i just thought that was a bit early.

otherwise great property.

Room Tip: you can hear the neighbors in the room next door.

Jensen's penthouse room is just perfect. First, the rooms are all spotless, decor lovely and comfortable, completely stocked kitchen, every detail was considered when planning this location. My husband love the size and HUGE window unobstructed views of the Gulf. Very few people on the beach in October. Jensen's is a small resort so few people. I've noticed the landscape crew out daily maintaining the grounds. Thanks to Keith for suggesting the penthouse; it is just what my husband and I were looking for as our get-away.

Today we'll take the one-hour boat ride (free) at Jensen's Marina. Maybe we'll rent a boat another day to explore the other islands in the area.

We enjoyed two restaurants so far: The Bubble Room and Sunset Grill.

We stayed @ the Beach Nest September 5 Through the 10th. The 2 bed room house was more than we needed, great location, and view. I felt like we were on Gilligan's Island! Everything was clean, everyone was extremely helpful and nice. Easy walk to the beach, chairs and umbrellas were always available, even nets for shelling. At times, we were the only ones on the private beach. We walked to the resturants and shops, be careful though as the main road does not have a very good side walk and take a flashlite as it is very dark at night. The location of the resort is ideal as parking seems to be difficult. If you want a low key, non pretentious, beach get a way, this is it. Thank you Keith, the Jensen Brothers and your team.

Let me begin by saying that I have been going to Captiva and Sanibel for over twenty years. This is by far the best place to stay; even better than South Seas Plantation which is way more expensive. We stayed at the Jensen House on the gulf. You have a private walk to the beach, which is very close to the beach, not a hike to the beach like other resorts. I cannot find enough great things to say about this place! The Jensen brothers are so friendly and were more than helpful. We will be back and it will be at the Jensen House! Oh and they have a private outdoor shower which is very romantic.

Room Tip: Go with the Jensen House!
