“Relaxation Guaranteed in Old Florida Style at the Twin Palms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2007

My husband and I recently returned from a 5 day stay at Jensen's Twin Palms and Marina. We had been referred there by our neighbor who has been going there for years. We stayed in a one bedroom cottage. It had a large room with a very comfortable king size bed, along with 2 comfortable sitting chairs in front of the TV. The fully stocked small kitchen had a small table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was small with a shower only - no tub. The cottage had a screened in porch as well with 2 deck chairs and a picnic table. Everything was very neat and clean and we loved the laid back atmosphere. We brought our boat and were able to dock it at the marina right on the property. There were several resident manatees who hung around the marina and we saw porpoises every day as well. The staff were always very helpful and accommodating with anything we needed. We did lots of fishing during the day and found the location to be perfect. In the evenings we walked to the local restaurants, most were only a block away. We enjoyed The Mucky Duck, RC Otter's, Captiva Cantina as well as the Bubble Room (AWESOME DESSERTS). There were several others we didn't have time to try, but heard they were excellent as well - Key Lime Bistro and the Green Flash. Will try those next time. This was our first trip to Captiva, but will definitely not be our last! The water is a beautiful aqua green / blue and the fish are plentiful! There is a $6 toll to get on the island ($9 if you are pulling a boat). I'd suggest that you bring whatever drinks and snacks you are going to want while there, as the little food stores (and they are few and far between) are very pricey. We were told that during the high season (December - April) things are very busy, but we found the month of May to be delightful and a little slower paced.

  • Liked — Very clean and comfortable - not your typical hotel - Near the marina!
  • Disliked — No complaints!

We stayed at Twin palms and had a great time. Sunrise there, a short walk in the afternoon for sunset by Mucky Duck. Jimmy, John, and Dave are excellent hosts. Always have a smile and time to talk. Jimmy is in a band called The Trouble Starters, if you get a chance see them do so. Everything is so close too. DIning at R. C. Otters or Keylime Bistro are fun places to go, outdoor dining with live music. We saw Pat McCune and Chris Workman, both very good. We were able to see many types of birds up close on the dock as well as Manatee swimming right there. Great photo ops! We enjoyed everything about the place, just book early. We tried to book for "07" Spring early in "06" and they were full. Ended up booking on Sanibel but we will definitely go visit the Jensens! Go and you will enjoy!

I've been reading the reviews for Captiva Island for 'Tween Waters and SouthSeas, but have yet to see any reviews for Jensen's. We have stayed at Jensen's Marina each and every time we have travelled to Captiva, since 1988. It's casual, a perfect location and the Jensen family are a great bunch of folks. They have everything that interests us, charter fishing, boat rentals, etc. Of course, you can walk to everything on the island..the beach, Bubble Room, Mucky Duck, etc., etc., etc. Since we have moved from Atlanta to Kansas City, our travels to Captiva have been limited. But we are planning another trip very soon. What a wonderful place to de-stress and relax.

Stayed in the cottage facing the marina,so cute! A family of Manatee's entertained us for hours, right in front of our cottage!!! That alone was worth the $130 a night. Located near all of the main restaurants in Captiva. Very low-key, old school, family- run place, my husband and I really just loved it. Definately looking forward to visiting again. Thanks!

We stayed in one of the two bedroom cottages over by the marina in early December 2003. It was our first visit to Captiva and it was just before the busy season started. Both Captiva and Sanibel were decorated for the upcoming holiday season and we were able to see all of the palm trees lit up with various colored lights. Truly a special place these two islands. The Jensen's Twin Palms and Marina was a very good choice for us, relaxed environment, nothing fancy but very comfortable and clean. Nice place to wander around at night, felt very tropical and for those who fish, a nice dock area for late night fishing. All in all we felt it was a nice, clean, reasonably priced place. The staff were very friendly. We actually ended up arriving a day late due to a snow storm up North, cancelling our flight. They were very understanding when we called to say we would not be arriving until the next night and did not charge us for the unused night. I would very much recommend the Jensen's cottages. Their web site was very acurate. We hope to be able to visit them again.
