Our stay at Jensen's for our 10th anniversary was a delight. Our cabin (#2) was roomy, super clean and charming.
They take problems/issues very seriously. Our AC didn't seem to be cooling properly the first night, but someone came by three times the next day to fix/monitor it to ensure we'd be comfortable. We were impressed and appreciative.
The three brother-owners top off the experience with such friendly and accommodating attitudes. They treated us like old friends.
Upon checkout, we got to see a couple of other cabins and one of the apartment units, for a possible return trip. All of them were similar in style and charming, so it seems you can't go wrong. However, if you have a choice, I would advise avoiding the cabins next to the road and perhaps even the cabin on the water, because privacy might be an issue with all the activity and cars up front at the marina.
The only downside for me was that the walk to the beach was a little longer than I liked. BUT is only a few steps away from the Bubble Room, where we like to buy ginormous, to-go pieces of their orange-crunch cake to feast on. You're also a short drive away to the Old Captiva House, where we had a fabulous anniversary dinner. Go next door to the Crow's Nest after your meal and dance to the lively music by the awesome Capitva Band.
Jensen's is not a place for people who like to be pampered at cookie-cutter chain resorts. Instead, you must have an appreciation for unique, mom-and-pop places with character.
We hope to return and to send as many of our friends there who want recommendations for Sanibel/Captiva.
