“Great Waterside Lunch Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

It's never easy taking my family out to a restaurant. With three relatives over 86, walkers & wheelchairs are the reality. I can almost hear the servers and hostesses roll their eyes when we come in. Not at Pops though, the young wait staff were attentive and started out pretty good. Our server was attentive and fairly patient. The food was good, large portion sizes and tasty. I was a bit confused when the server was cashing me out though. We put in a three $20 bills in with a credit card, with the implied understanding that the cash would go toward the total. The server pocketed the twenties and put the entire amount on the card. With all the fuss associated with getting the elderly to the car, I didn't realize that the server had taken all of the cash as her tip (a 50% gratuity). I called them later to straighten this out and my call was "dropped" twice. Hmm...something fishy there. Beware the servers and their sticky fingers on cash payments.

Hi mattismom! Thank you for your recent visit to Pops and sharing your experience on TA. I also want to thank you for providing me additional information on your check settlement under separate cover and recognizing this was a procedural issue and not a sticky fingers situation. The only sticky fingers we like at Pops are the ones you get from polishing off a pile of our wings! ..;-)
Please come back and see us again soon, cheers, Don

“WOW, WOW and Still more WOW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2014

This was about our fourth or fifth visit to Pop's and it was even better than we had remembered. Located on the Intra-coastal Waterway in Nokomis, FLA, Pop's sets the standard for Coastline restaurants. This place is pure Florida, what a location, as you dine by the water you watch the boats, big & small, line up to go through the drawbridge and if your lucky, you can watch a pod of dolphins which hang around about 40 feet out from the deck, perform and play out there. Nature at it's best..... Boats are constantly tying up at the deck and the crew goes to dine. We had Steam Pot Lobster and Bahama Mama Burger. Service is very good, staff is knowledgeable and friendly, the bar service is equally good even though there are at times no seats left at the bar, the staff keep em coming. The ambiance is the best, food is great, what more could you want for....

“Great afternoon lunch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

To eat water front outside in Florida is great. The food was pretty good and the price was fair. They are easy to get in and out of in an hour so you can get back to the beach!

“An enjoyable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

We heard about this restaurant from a friendly couple we met on Golden Beach one morning. They urged us not to leave for home (Canada) without trying it. We arrived without a reservation, but early enough to be accommodated. We sat at one of the large tables with a firepit in the middle, and we very much enjoyed the other guests who joined us. The service was excellent; both of our waitresses were friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. We would definitely return.

“Pop's is Tops!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

We have lived in the area for 17 years and whenever I want a delicious dinner and beautiful view, I go to Pop's. Walking through the thatched roof entrance area, I'm normally greeted by a smiling face, Karl. Karl is the Operations Manager, and always looks like he is having a blast at work. He is friendly and available to re-light a table if the ocean breeze blows it out, or accommodate a large party when we have out of town guests visit. They remind us how lucky we are to experience this view and relaxing restaurant. Casual atmosphere allows you to come as you are whether boating or from the car. The menu allows you to get a large steam pot, or just a sandwich. Great variety! And my all-time favorite is the Rum Punch at Pops. The bartenders are the hardest working people in the area! Especially on the weekends. Yes, it can be busy during season, but it's worth it to stop by and listen to the live entertainment. We are lucky, we have many restaurants to choose from, but we keep going back to Pop's where we are served with a smile and have had great food experiences no matter what we have ordered from a sandwich and edamame salad to a large fish steam pot. Great place for family and out of town visitors! Brad & Cheryl
