Ranked #27 of 74 Restaurants in Niceville
Cuisines: American, Hamburgers
Description: Fairly new business which is tucked (hidden) behind McDonald's, off of Highway 20 and Juniper Avenue, in Niceville, Florida. The chef/owner is Brian Cartenuto, a young chef who cooks very tasty, and well seasoned, food in a casual environment. He claims to cook and serve the BEST HAMBURGER IN TOWN, and my son who considers himself a burger connoisseur (and tastes burgers in EVERY town we visit) says it is THE BEST hamburger he has EVER eaten. And, it is HUGE. In fact, all of Brian's portions are very large. I can never finish my plate of food, and take some home every time. In addition to his menu, he offers Blue Plate Specials from Monday through Friday. His "Red Beans and Rice" on Monday are the BEST I've ever had. As Niceville, Fl has so few delicious, affordable and local restaurants, I am reallly wanting to place Tucker Duke's Lunchbox on the map. In fact, I plan to contact that show Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins. :-)

“This really is a special place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Do not hesitate to stop in. Set your expectations higher than the exterior and you will not be disappointed. It is a small, simple place with tremendous creativity. Not elaborate, do not expect the inside to be any nicer than the outside. On the other hand, they took what was probably an old gas station, and made it a unique functioning restaurant. Bravo for them. In a world of half empty strip malls, thank goodness for someone reusing a facility which would otherwise become an eyesore. So go in, try the Tucker Burger. You will love it. Forget the decor, leave your preconceived notions at home and enjoy a great burger. Oh, and bring your dog.

“************ Do Not Miss This Place! ************”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

The burgers are like none others that I have ever seen! The burgers are huge, messy and fantastic. They have unique toppings for their burgers (like pulled pork). The Tucker Duke and the Steakhouse burgers are the best I have ever tried. Do yourself a favor--eat there often. I wish I lived in Florida!

“Best gourmet burgers in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

Excellent friendly service. The food is fabulous. The burgers are mile high in flavor goodness and stature. Try the TD burger, it's a monster and so flavorful. Make sure you read the menu rules. Lol

“finally something other than fast food and fried fish...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

when more than 2 people recommend a place you have to try, then i'm definitely going to try it. i love food and i love trying new places. Tucker Dukes did not disappoint. the menu is so eclectic, especially for a "burger joint".

my husband tried the turkey burger (i think it was called the Sophia?) and it was amazing. if we could have tried everything on the menu, we probably would have, but the size of the burgers would keep any normal person satisfied for a few days!

my only complaint, being a southern girl, was that they did not serve very good sweet tea. if you're going to have sweet tea, please do not use that instant crap. they take the time to make their own fresh lemonade, but unfortunately the tea is not fresh.

oh, and for those who reviewed this place as having terrible customer service...it's not terrible, they treat their customers like they are treated. if you're rude and obnoxious, so is the staff

“Awesome Dining Experience!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

You absolutely must try this place! The food is quite amazing, and the service is unique...in a great way.

Anytime I walk into a new restaurant, I always ask my server to bring me whatever they would recommend. More often than not, the server is going to know and recommend what the chef is renowned for. Before I had the chance to ask, the Tucker Duke Burger was recommended to me...so that's what I ordered. It was a delicious tower of a burger!
My 5 year old son loved the place because they have Abita Root Beer on tap, as well as a sandwich with his name, the "Joshua Sandwich". I ordered a burger to-go for my mother, and even after 20 minutes of it sitting in a to-go box, she as well thought the burger was amazing.

What I liked the most about the place, besides the outstanding food and wonderful service, was the humorous atmosphere. Tucker Duke's is not a place for those easily offended for no good reason. They take a humorous approach to addressing rude customer behavior. Believe it or not, rude customer behavior delays great service to other customers. Some tips:
1. Don't talk on your phone and hold up your server, which will eventually hold up your server's service to others. This will not be tolerated.
2. Don't walk in, thinking you own the place, and re-arrange the tables and chairs to your liking without asking. This will not be tolerated.
3. Do not leave a $1 tip on a $20 tab. You will probably not be welcomed back.
4. If you know you are going to want several separate checks, let the server know beforehand. This alleviates the extra 20 minutes it takes the server to separate checks after-the-fact, which in turn leads to 20 minutes of service taken away from other customers.
5. If you're expecting fast-food, go elsewhere. A 1/2lb of ground beef takes time to cook, as does any fine food.
6. If you can't take a light-hearted joke, don't bother stepping foot inside.

All in all, the food is great, the service is great, and the atmosphere is fantastic!
