To All Travellers

Passing through New Smyrna Beach recently I visited The Grille At Riverview, experienced a fantastic meal with service that was superior.
Being the only restaurant on the river in this small town, it was an atmosphere that was like no other, management were very professional, but with that been said I had nothing to complain about.
Smoking is obviously an outdoors event throughout the majority of the United States, therefore I sat inside....

Everyone should visit The Grille At Riverview!! Exceptional

For my birthday 7/5/07 my husband and 2 sons, ages 12 & 14 took me to The Riverview Restaurant in New Smyna Beach. We had been here 2 years earlier and had a great meal, well this was not meant to be this night. The service was extremely slow, which for sitting by the intercoastal waterway is not a bad deal. You can watch the boats and birds go by and sit in the fading sun and sip you watered down drink as you wait for your meal. Just as our salads arrived so did two regular visitors older women who sat right next to us chain smoking and drinking. Needless to say this ruined our meal and when we tried to find our waitress she never came. Our main meal was brought by 2 bus boys who left promptly and didn't have the authority to move us. After seven minutes of this I finally got up and looked for the manager. He informed me that the riverside seat we were seated in even though is was 2 tables away from the bar area was a reserved table for the bar as was the table the two chimneys where seated at. I told him if I would have known this I would have sat at another table and not one designated for the bar. I also told him we were waiting for our waitress to be moved but had given up the wait as it was now going on 10 minutes and our food was cold. I then went to the restroom and then back to my seat to find the waitress still had not showed up yet!! I then took my younger son(who couldn't eat his meal either because of the smokers) and left the restuarant to walk outside near the riverside. My husband got the full bill, yes my uneaten meal was still charged to us and he met us outside 10 minutes later. He said our waitress finally showed up and apologized that she was stuck making salads. In ending, I will never go back to the Riverview after have wasted $140 on meals that were mediocre. Talking to the English manager was a waste of time as he did nothing to help the situation and I will never forget this birthday meal, too bad because it was truly forgettable.
