You don't go to the Beacon for the food, necessarily, but more for the atmosphere. The waitresses are friendly and probably know your order before you get the chance to utter it. Be sure to ask for real butter on the side.

We never miss the Beacon during our trips to NSB! It is a great place
to grab breakfast before the beach and a lunch break from the beach.
It is very busy most of the time. It is about 100m from the beach on Flagler. This simple, chaming diner is a popular spot for locals and the prices are cheap. It is not uncommon for people to come in with just their bathing suits on right from the beach. Great place for families.

Ok California people....The Beacon is the local greasy spoon. It's an
average place with average food...so if you want a Denny's like atmosphere, albeit cheaper than denny's, then come here. If not, then
there are plenty of other options to fit your tastes and needs. Try Romesco's on Canal Street, the atmosphere is nice, it's tasty, and expensive. You can also eat at Deli touch on Canal Street for a descent, inexpensive breakfast. Breakfast places are a little lacking
on the Beachside, but there is Dunkin' Donuts, Bagel World, and of course....the Beacon.

We walked into the Beacon around 11:30 am wanting lunch and not breakfast. The place was busy with everyone eating pancakes, omelettes, and breakfast foods. The hostess was busy and apparently said to us "take a seat" but we didn't hear her.

When we got her attention, we asked if we could see a menu. All we wanted to do was see what they offered and the prices (there wasn't a menu posted outside the building or in the window like most places do). She said "I told you to take a seat and we'll bring a menu when you sit down". Ouch! If that was the attitude before we even sat down, imagine what it would have been like if we actually stayed at ate there.

Put a menu in the window if you don't want to answer questions - what have you got to hide!
