The Garlic is a different place, just off the five lane roadway, between other businesses and restaurants, you wander in from the parking lot at the back, down a "tunnel" of vines and woodwork, and arrive in a stonewalled courtyard with a "walk in" fireplace and many mature trees. And you passed theItalian ceramic covered giant woodfired oven on the way. And if you weren't already, you are hungry now.
Sit in the courtyard, hang "inside" ( there's a roof) at the bar and enjoy the very efficient and extremely funny bartenders ( trade quips but don't expect to win), have a very good meal, brilliant baked seafood pasta, lovely grilled meats, enjoy the roasted and mashed elephant garlic spread on some bread and read the specials written on uncooked lasagna noodles, enjoy the excellent performances and encyclopedic blues knowledge of Mark performing beside the bar. Though it gets chilly around mid winter in New Smyrna Beach, the giant fireplace and the friendly attitude will keep you warm enough.
