6-8 foot wide slightly raised boardwalk through the dunes with rest stations inbetween - Thank goodness! It was VERY hot with the bright sun reflecting off the sand; bring water, we did. My sister and brother-in-law are hikers and wanted to go, they are in better shape than me - I've had a few knee surgeries and it was tough going. The walk is fun, the rest areas are covered and have picnic tables, trash bins, BBQs and stairs down to the sandy dunes. There are other stairs down here or there where you can access the river side and there are boardwalks and stairs that go over the dunes to the beach. there is even a little tower you can climb the stairs up to take in a view of the whole area (river, inlet and ocean). We walked the riverside to the oceanside and the last little bit we saw land tortoises, just before the walk entered into the "woodsy" section.
Anyone looking for a hike - GO! Bring water and wear walking shoes.
