Largest Native American midden we've ever seen. Very impressive and worth the trip.

Walkers delight as you stroll through this beautiful park. Watch out for the yellow spiders :)

“You're in for a big surprise.”

When we have out-of-town guests we try to take them to our favorite spots, and this is one of them. A fascinating piece of history and easy for all ages to walk.

“A 40 FOOT HIGH MOUND BUILT BY INDIANS OF OYSTER SHELLS- GREAT VIEW”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2012

If you are a theme park kind of mentality you don't need to go here. It is on the most beautiful shores protected by the fed government as a seashore. This is on the way to the beach parking areas. It is a pretty treck .....a real jungle walk not theme park fake....through the habitat of the timicuan indians. They discared their oyster shells that were an abundant food source. This thing you climb up easily on wooden catwalks and stairs ends atop a 40 or so foot high mound and 1000 feet long of discared shells. The view is spectacular as you 360 around to see the intercostal, and then the sea the other way. It reminds me of Edna St. Vinent Millay's poem about maine...only its untouched fla.
