“Surprise value on prime beach real estate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2012

This funky old-school motel is great! Don't let the initial approach dissuade you. Each of the 40 rooms has oceanfront views with either a patio or balcony depending on your floor. The rooms were spacious and clean, if a bit spartan, and priced well below the normal rates of comparable oceanfront lodgings. The Lemon Bar overlooking the pool was a happening place on Cinco de Mayo and is a welcome diversion on less festive occasions. The inn is well-situated at the end of a street with multiple bars and restaurants within walking distance and the public beach is pristine. Even for hotel snobs like me, this is a winner!

shhh, a real secret, located within walking distance to everything. park the car and forget about it. motel is right on the ocean, pool with lounge chairs, lemon bar for cocktails on property. renovated bathrooms, new carpet, could use new artwork but the rooms and bedding are very clean and the air conditioning works great. all rooms have sliding glass doors to a small patio with chairs. really nice friendly staff that keeps the property in great shape.

The Sea Horse Inn is a bargain. Right on the beach with the Lemon Bar overlooking the beach and the pool. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Check it out!!

Back in the days when I was growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, the whole family came to the beach in front of this motel. Of course, we didn't stay there because we lived in Jax. However, now that I live in Atlanta, I have discovered this little gem, that is perfect for this forlorn, land-locked lady. The rooms are not fancy, but who spends much time in the rooms anyway? It is on the beach. It has a pool that is surrounded by grass in which kids can play or sun buffs can tan their backs. The Lemon Bar here is one of the top bars at the beach, and everything you could want on vacation is within walking distance. This motel is the perfect place for families, and, really, people of any age. It is safe since access to the inside is by key only. The pool is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and can't be accessed by small children because of the tricky opening mechanism. The people who own and operate this place are really friendly and accommodating. What more can you ask for? All in all, you get a lot of bang for your buck here. I highly recommend this motel!

Room Tip: I personally like the second floor end room overlooking the ocean. It has two balconies - one for o...

Loved the Seahorse Oceanfront Inn. My husband and I arrived to find the most awesome little place! We enjoyed our stay! Our room was spotless and the beach was gorgeous. We got the recommendation from one of the Jacksonville experts and were totally thrilled. It was wonderful to walk around the little village area and the bar downstairs was perfect for a drink by the beach. We slept with the door open and listened to the waves, perfect!

I don't understand some people's mentality. We reserved a room upon arrival and asked about a pet policy. I told her we had a dog under 5 lbs. and she said no pets were allowed in the room. I told her that would be fine. She offered to call me on my cell when the room was ready and three hours passed before I finally went to ask. She, the front desk clerk, said they would the room was ready but she advised us not to get the room unless we paid $200!! They did not even want the little dog on the property, not even in the parking lot! They were so rude about the whole situation. So I got and the computer and got a room next door at the "One Ocean Resort and Spa" and they gladly accepted pets. They even had a pet menu!

Room Tip: Don't!!

I hesitate to write about the Seahorse and Neptune Beach because this is my backyard.
The First Coast's beaches are some of the nicest in Florida and the 'north' beaches are no exception...not common knowledge.
The Seahorse is a classic throwback Florida motel that is really well maintained. It's right on the beach, has a great pool and it adjoins a pedestrian friendly area with a healthy variety of quaint, one of a kind eateries, shops and watering holes. The tariff won't break you either.
But it's ok to ignore all of this. It's really a locals thing. Forget I wrote this.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms offer unobstructed views of ocean.
