“Terrific hotel - wonderful location, outstanding service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Just returned from a week-long stay with my husband and children at the RC Naples. We had a gulf front room with two double beds and an oversized chair/sofa bed. The beds were very comfy (sofa bed was adequate) and the room (end of the hall, on the corner) was surprisingly spacious and well laid-out for a family. We were even able to store sports equipment (including golf clubs) in the foyer, so that it wasn't in the way. (The only downside was the closet, which was small and narrow, but the extra room in the foyer area was well worth the tradeoff.) As everyone has mentioned, the gulf front view is outstanding! If you are a "view person" as I am, I would strongly recommend this upgrade. From the balcony, we viewed spectacular sunsets, and with the door open, we enjoyed the sound of the ocean waves. It was a wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine! Service at the hotel was outstanding. I can truly say that every staff member we encountered was friendly and professional. We were especially impressed by Emily and Katherine at the front desk, Joshua in Sushi (outstanding!), and Marie in housekeeping. Each one of them went the extra mile in providing superb service! The RC is a bit more formal than many beach resort properties, so if you are traveling with children/teens, you may want to take that into account with regard to attire and activities. For example, golf shorts/pants and golf shirts rather than tee shirts/basketball shorts in the restaurants. Onsite activities for the kids are a bit limited, but in addition to the beach and pool, include golf (at the golf resort), tennis, a basketball court, a ping pong table and pool table at the pool, and a room with Playstation and Xbox access (somewhat limited hours). In the area, there are bike rentals, para sailing and jet ski rentals, deep sea fishing, and professional baseball games (teams conduct Spring Training nearby). If you are willing to travel a bit, there are also trips through the Everglades. The food at the hotel is excellent, albeit pricey. Sushi is a good option for families with sports enthusiasts, as there is a pool table and big screen tvs show basketball games, golf tournaments, etc. The only downside is, it can get pretty crowded. Gumbo Limbo is also terrific, offering a good selection of drinks, sandwiches and appetizers, as well as an awesome location to view the ocean and beach, especially at sunset! For breakfast, there is the Terrace (a bit pricey for every day) or the ice cream/coffee shop on the lobby level, which serves a good selection of pastries and coffees, plus fruit cups, yogurts and juices. One of the ladies, there, was particularly friendly and helpful! Overall, this is a terrific property with outstanding service which lives up to the Ritz Carlton name, After the reno in August, it will only be better!

Room Tip: Gulf front corner rooms offer extra space and prime views.

A beautiful hotel but I really expected more from a ritz Carlton. Room was clean but small with average furnishings. Bathroom was nice but again I expected more from this type of hotel. Staff were friendly and professional

Been staying for years at this Ritz but quality of housecleaning personnel Has declined. Maids are loud and frequently visit with each other rather than working. It use to be that all staff would say hello to you when you walk by but no longer. Turn down service now occurs as late as 9pm.
Beds poorly made.

Room Tip: Some rooms the bath opens into the room which is terrible for a nice place.

My husband and I loved this hotel and the club level was fantastic. The concierge at the club was amazing, they were very friendly and accomodating. Our room was nice, but the view was the best it was right below the presidential suite and we had a perfect view of the ocean, I watched dolphins from my balcony every morning. We can't wait to return, hopefully in October we will be back.

Excellent...from the moment we drove up to the minute we left. This is our 2nd year here and both times, we had an amazing time. The valet / door men are superb. Dave is especially friendly and great with out young kids. The rooms were nice as would be expected.

Probably the best example of the superior amenities and service was near the pool. The pic attached shows exactly how they provide for their guests. Swim diapers for kids just in case you forgot them!!!!

Can't wait until next year!

I had a good overall stay here but for a five star hotel and with the prices they are charging, this hotel really needs to improve its training and management of certain areas, particularly The Terrace and beach staff. They should also get rid of the fees ($25 plus tax, and tip is expected) for the umbrellas at the beach. This is so annoying and greedy. Once you arrive at the hotel and realize you've paid too much for the room you get and then they hit you with all the fees (umbrellas, parking your car, local calls, etc.), it really feels like they are trying to extract every penny from you. Why have this when you are already paying a premium for a room here? At least, a five star BEACH resort should provide complementary beach chairs and umbrellas! I was also very perplexed by the service of the beach attendants. The guys would not address you until you addressed them and they should not be allowed to speak another language among themselves in front of hotel guests; I found this to be rude and disrespectful, and I was not the only one irritated by this. On several occasions, I was left standing there while they carried on and they did not acknowledge me until I intervened. Unacceptable for the Ritz. Once they got to work though, they were pleasant enough, quick and did a nice job with the beach setup. The Terrace food was subpar and extremely salty and the servers seemed to be dragging their feet with everything. They smiled a lot but were totally inefficient and unknowledgable. The pool staff also need to clean and wipe down the little side tables by the lounge chairs at the pool. The crusty ketchup and dropped fries from a previous guest were appalling. Another time it was white spills left from sunscreen or drinks. Another time it was lemon wedges. Cleanliness is a minimum! Room was nice but needs renovation (which they will be doing this summer). Club level service was excellent. Beach is beautiful. Valets were friendly and efficient. Overall, just okay for a five star. They need to eliminate the nickel-and-diming fees and run a tighter ship. Hope to go back after the renovation and only after reading some more positive reviews. After traveling to so many other "luxury" hotels worldwide, it is hard for me to give this 5 star hotel anything above a 3 star review. If you don't travel frequently, then you will be impressed here, but if you are used to true 5 star hotels, then you will be disappointed.

We recommend staying on the Club Level while at the Ritz Carlton-Naples resort. The concierge staff is superb, the service, food presentations and ambiance are all excellent. The Spa is world-class. This Ritz property is about to undergo a huge renovation this summer. We look forward to visiting again and to seeing the many updates and new look. Worth the visit!
