Just returned from a week-long stay with my husband and children at the RC Naples. We had a gulf front room with two double beds and an oversized chair/sofa bed. The beds were very comfy (sofa bed was adequate) and the room (end of the hall, on the corner) was surprisingly spacious and well laid-out for a family. We were even able to store sports equipment (including golf clubs) in the foyer, so that it wasn't in the way. (The only downside was the closet, which was small and narrow, but the extra room in the foyer area was well worth the tradeoff.) As everyone has mentioned, the gulf front view is outstanding! If you are a "view person" as I am, I would strongly recommend this upgrade. From the balcony, we viewed spectacular sunsets, and with the door open, we enjoyed the sound of the ocean waves. It was a wonderfully relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine! Service at the hotel was outstanding. I can truly say that every staff member we encountered was friendly and professional. We were especially impressed by Emily and Katherine at the front desk, Joshua in Sushi (outstanding!), and Marie in housekeeping. Each one of them went the extra mile in providing superb service! The RC is a bit more formal than many beach resort properties, so if you are traveling with children/teens, you may want to take that into account with regard to attire and activities. For example, golf shorts/pants and golf shirts rather than tee shirts/basketball shorts in the restaurants. Onsite activities for the kids are a bit limited, but in addition to the beach and pool, include golf (at the golf resort), tennis, a basketball court, a ping pong table and pool table at the pool, and a room with Playstation and Xbox access (somewhat limited hours). In the area, there are bike rentals, para sailing and jet ski rentals, deep sea fishing, and professional baseball games (teams conduct Spring Training nearby). If you are willing to travel a bit, there are also trips through the Everglades. The food at the hotel is excellent, albeit pricey. Sushi is a good option for families with sports enthusiasts, as there is a pool table and big screen tvs show basketball games, golf tournaments, etc. The only downside is, it can get pretty crowded. Gumbo Limbo is also terrific, offering a good selection of drinks, sandwiches and appetizers, as well as an awesome location to view the ocean and beach, especially at sunset! For breakfast, there is the Terrace (a bit pricey for every day) or the ice cream/coffee shop on the lobby level, which serves a good selection of pastries and coffees, plus fruit cups, yogurts and juices. One of the ladies, there, was particularly friendly and helpful! Overall, this is a terrific property with outstanding service which lives up to the Ritz Carlton name, After the reno in August, it will only be better!
