Ok here we go. Please note the only other Ritz I stayed at was in Grand Cayman so my comparison is between the two properties. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton Naples for spring break 2011.We arrived on April 5, 2011 and departed on April 12, 2011. I was traveling with my wife and two children ages 7 and 3. We arrived at the hotel at 12PM and I was told that our room would not be ready until after 5PM because the guest that was in the room booked with American Express and this means they get a late check out time of 4PM. The hotel was completely sold out so no other rooms or options were available. I must admit this did not sit well with me or start off right. Our day started off at 5AM and if you ever traveled with small children I’m sure you know how bad this was. To make matters worse they were getting thunder showers on this day so there was no place to go except sit in the hotel lobby. The children were miserable and tired. The bell man told me that the American Express late check out really screws things up for the hotel, staff and guests trying to checking in. To make matters worse he also told me people booking with AMEX also get an early check in time of 10AM and the whole process is a nightmare and needs to be discontinued. So if you book with AMEX you get your room earlier than everyone else plus you get to stay late. I guess membership does have its rewards!

Here is the long and short of our stay. We had a good time and the beach, hotel, and facilities were fine. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Ritz in Naples is celebrating 25 years this year and the hotel is showing its age but still well maintained. They do get you at every corner though making you pay for valet parking $25.00 per day, $25.00 for beach chairs plus umbrella, $26.00 buffet breakfast, plus daily charge for wifi. Again you kind of expect this going to a place like the Ritz but at $750.00 a night I would think they could cut you some slack some place.

My biggest problem with the place was the food. I have no problem with the prices they charge if you are getting top notch food but this was far from top notch. In fact other than the breakfast I would rate the food quality mediocre at best. The food at the Ritz in the Caymans is far superior to the food at the Ritz in Naples. I think there are 7 restaurants on property but we only at the The Pool Side Café, Gumbo Limbo on the beach, and the Terrace. The reason for this was because the food was so mediocre we did not want to experiment and waste more money and be disappointed trying out the others. The food at all 3 places was a huge disappointment. I didn’t eat anything that was exceptional or anything I would order again. I would say the food at TGI Fridays is better than the 3 places we tried. Now for some who don’t care much about the food quality this may not be an issue for your beach vacation however be advised you can get better for half the price on the outside. On a side note we did order room service one night for dinner and it was outstanding. Go figure huh? So after the first couple of days we ate breakfast in the hotel and then went to the restaurants on 5th Street for dinner.

To recap the staff, facilities, and the level of service I received in Grand Cayman was 3 times better than it was at the Ritz in Naples. Again I don’t know if all Ritz Carlton Hotels are like the one in Naples and this is the norm or if the Ritz in Grand Cayman is just far more exceptional than all the rest? Over all it was a great vacation but I would not rate this property 5 stars after staying at the Ritz in Grand Cayman. The facility itself was certainly not as good and the service could not compare and the food was a huge let down but it was still a good stay. I would say this is a 4 star hotel with decent amenities and mediocre food however there is simply not a better beach resort around in the area other than the Ritz in Naples. If there were something better I would be there.

My daughter and I decided to take a three night four day vacation. Since it was last minute, Naples was an easy trip from New York. The room facing the garden was 799.00, however on arrival we were upgraded to an ocean view room. We always travel to the Caribbean and Bahamas but the airlines were all booked. On our arrival evening at 4 AM a fire alarm went off to "leave the hotel immediately." I grabbed my daughter and proceeded down 10 flights of stairwells. Their was no staff in site. Everyone was walking down the steps as if they were on the way to the beach. An hour later it was announced "everyone can go back up to their rooms." Back up the ten flights. Of course, I could not sleep the rest of the evening for it was a very frightening experience. not knowing why the alarm had went off. The following day a letter was sent to the room that it was a water problem. Well thanks, we would have liked to have known the night before.
one knot out. The moisturizer was like water. etc etc
We have stayed at all leading resorts in the Caribbean and Bahamas for example Cotton House, Parrot Cay, Jumby Bay, Ocean Club (at least 10 times) etc. So I feel compelled to define 5 star all the time. This is a great hotel for a business meeting or a wedding, however it was not very relaxing nor private. It also stands out for the below par amenities. The beach charges $25.00 per day for an umbrella. The chairs were so close together that we could here everyone's conversation. The products in the room were all "Ritz Carlton." The conditioner stood out the most, after using my hair still felt like straw from the beach.. The moisturizer was like water, I had to go the shop and buy a bottle of Bulgari moisturizer so my skin would not peel.
Overall, the staff tried to please everyone but they were completely overwhelmed. The breakfast has a wonderful selection. The lunch's are horrid. Dinner one night we had burgers and the next room service. Which I like to mention the room service is superb.
The other notable was the water aerobics class which was fun.
Basically, if you like to drive up to a hotel and see a Ferrari, Lamborgini, Rolls Royce and Mercedes this is the place for you. The sunsets were amazing from our room and beds the beds were comfy.

First off, the service is fantastic. The staff at the Ritz-Carlton Naples is friendly and accommodating. Every staff member will go out of their way to make your experience a comfortable one and they'll do it with a smile and genuine enthusiasm.

Second, their beds are amazing. I never slept better at a hotel. I woke up feeling refreshed and recharged. Because I'm pregnant, I requested a body pillow during the online reservation process and one was provided without having to make a call.

Unfortunately, there are three things that tainted what could have been a perfect experience at the Ritz:

1) The Ritz will nickle and dime you. We were charged $8 for coffee and $8 for orange juice at The Terrace restaurant. There's a valet fee of $25 PER DAY. (So take advantage of getting off the property when you can—the restaurants on 3rd Street are great.) To rent lounge chairs and an umbrella at the beach costs $36. Huh? The list goes on and on...

2) The Ritz should be exclusive, but it isn't. We saw several people from the beach walk onto the pool property and take up 4 lounge chairs. They were scheming on how they could enter the property without getting caught. No one asked them what their room number was or if they were staying at the hotel. The pool was crowded to begin with and is very small compared to many other resorts.

Staying at the Ritz is super expensive and the people who pay to use those facilities should be the only ones who have access to them. (I think another reviewer said the same thing.)

3) My husband and I were lounging at the pool at 4pm when 10 staff members came charging in gathering all of the lounge chairs and asking people to leave because they were setting up for a dinner event. Yet again, we pay too much money to be asked to leave. They should have designated areas for events. Not the main areas like the pool.

Just returned from a one week stay at the Ritz-Carlton Naples and was absolutely impressed! We have stayed at other Ritz properties (Key Biscayne in Florida) and they have all been wonderful, but the Ritz Naples was truly special! I work for a real estate investment trust (not in hospitality) and understand and recognize exceptional property management and service, and this Property and management team is special and should be experienced.
Physically, the resort is impeccably maintained with beautiful grounds, pools, spa, shops, conference facilities, restaurants, tennis courts, fitness center, Nature's Wonders (Kids Club), etc., etc. And the resort is on the most spectacular beach imagninable...absolutely gorgeous.
The thing that really sets this resort apart is the Service and attention to detail. The Ritz team gets to know guests quickly and remembers you and your particualrs which is a rare thing in the World today.
We experienced top flight service accross the board; great maid service, great front desk, great Bell service, terrific restaurant wait staff, and parking service, and terrific pool staff. One fellow in particular, who was a pool area manager/supervisor (I forget his name) but was from South Africa, went out of his way everyday to check on my family and anticipate our needs. He also provided my daughter with a pool "noodle" after we learned that her inflatable toy was not allowed. His service was exceptional and to be commended.
Also, we have a food allergy in the family to Gluten and the Hotel was extraordinary in accomodating this allergy. From dedicated gluten free menus to staff that universally understood the allergy and were clearly trained in this area, to most importantly, fantastic and varied food...that was safe...was truly a welcome and relaxing comfort to our family...
We will be back and we will recommend this Property to others without reservation...
Well done Ritz-Carlton Naples!

We love this hotel. Great location. Great beach. Great service. Great rooms. Great food. Great club level. Everything that make a Ritz a Ritz is present in this hotel. It is expensive. You will have a hard time keeping money in your wallet at this hotel. But in all of our travels, I honestly can't think of a hotel I like more in the US than this particular Ritz.

We just spent eight days at this hotel for our teenagers' spring break. I would say that the hotel was one third business travelers, one third families spring breaking and one third "Ritz" people. The hotel was at 95+% capacity. The pools were pretty busy, but the there were chairs on the beaches and the hotel's restaurants absorbed the guests very well. The spring break crowd to either side of the Ritz was pretty rowdy, but at the hotel, it was a calm atmosphere perfect for teens and younger kids. I only saw a few groups of college kids by themselves at the hotel. And they were really great.

We had club level rooms, which are spectacular if you are traveling with kids. There is constant food in the club lounge. Something is going on all day. I think you nearly offset the extra cost of the club level by saving on breakfast, drinks and snacks. If you can afford it, the club level is the best way to go.

I have two very minor quibbles.

First, if you are charging me $900+ a night for a room, please don't nickle and dime me for wifi. Ritz, as a chain, you need to fix this issue. If the Hamption Inn can provide complimentary wifi, so can you. This is stupid.

Second, this particular Ritz even more so than others at which we have stayed tends to attract high net worth people who monopolize the attention of the hotel staff. I don't blame the staff . . . they are simply responding to hotel guests. But Thurston and Lovie Howell occasionally make it difficult, if not impossible, for "normal" guests to get the level of service that Thurston and Lovie demand. The hotel needs to remind the staff that the family driving the SUV is paying the same price for the their room that the folks who drove up in a Bentley are paying. THIS IS NOT A STAFF ISSUE. It's a hotel culture issue.

Again though, these are just minor quibbles. This is the best beach hotel in the United States, bar none. If you can afford it, stay here.
