I stayed at the Waldorf - Naples for the weekend June 21-23 with my husband and 1 year old daughter. We stayed in one of the Bungalows 2nd floor. The room was great, very spacious and had a lot of room for the baby to move around. The room was clean and smelled good.
The property was very nice and clean as well. We had a nice view in the courtyard fountain and enjoyed stepping outside the balcony on occasion.
The first day we decided to walk through the mangrove boardwalk to the beach instead of taking the tram. It was a nice walk (a bit long - but it was nice at least to do once) it was covered by the mangroves so a lot of shade from the hot sun, which is good.
It was about 5pm when we got to the beach from our walk and we were a bit surprised to see that the eatery they had outside by the beach was only serving drinks, no food. Looks like the early evenings it's drinks only, eating out there would have been kind of nice, but for Naples hours, I guess we understand.
After relaxing at the beach which was pretty much empty at that hour, we walked back and got ready to decide where to have dinner, we decided to have dinner at the Aura. Since it was close to the baby's bedtime we ended up having to take the food to go and they were very accomodating with that, the food was good we ordered a sandwich/club, calamari and margarita flat bread. A bit pricey but for the Waldorf not surprising.
The beds seemed to look very comfy, but for some reason, unknown to both my husband and I we woke up with back aches, my husband said he hadn't slept in a more uncomfortable bed in his life (he's a very heavy sleeper - this was strange coming from him) we think that the mattress was maybe a memory foam or something like that which initially seems really comfortable but I guess we are not used to it, we also aren't fans of down pillows. Not the hotels fault just personal preference.
Next day we had breakfast at a local place nearby, we've gone to before, called Skilletz, I recommend this place, the food is great, the ppl are very friendly and prices are fantastic. We headed to the beach after that and took the tram this time, the wait for the tram wasn't too bad. When we got to the beach my husband went over to the beach chair/umbrella rental tiki while me and the baby waited by the water, a little inconvenient with a one year old, we waited about 15 minutes, then they set us up a ways down the beach, had to walk with the one year old, bags, etc, not fun, but ok.
Finally got settled and eventually they brought over the umbrella. For some reason when we checked in we were told that the beach chairs were included in the $30 a day resort fee, however the umbrella is not, this fee was $25. (SMH) Normally I'd be ok with that to a point but because we only enjoyed the chairs and umbrella for an hour (due to baby needing to cool off) I thought we probably should have done with out the umbrella (lesson learned)
When we got back to the room we decided to order room service and ordered 2 cheeseburgers and fries, with pina coladas. The food came quick, it was DELICIOUS and hit the spot. The fee a little high once again for burgers and fries, but I guess that's the price you pay at the Waldorf. Plus they tack on a $5 delivery fee. (OUCH)
The rest of the day we took occasional walks and enjoyed the room, while the baby slept comfortably in the bedroom. At night we decided on another "to go" meal and while we were getting rid of the room service from lunch, my husband saw a roach run along the counter, we were both surprised and luckily my husband eventually found it and killed it. We called the front desk to let them know and they were very apologetic and acommodating once again, credited us the resort fee for a day and promised an upgrade for future stay. We understand that this could happen anywhere and that in Florida it's common for roaches to come in from the outside (we live in Florida) but being that we live on a lake in Florida it's a rarity that we see roaches come into the house.
We did however appreicate the prompt attention from the staff and their willingness to make it right.
Overall, I say that the Waldorf is a great place to stay, the bungalows are great, spacious and clean, the restaurant food is pricey but very good, grounds kept very clean and nice, staff AMAZING -- very accomodating and attentive. I would stay here again even with all the little hiccups we encountered. And for ppl with small children I highly recommend a first floor bungalow, we will get one next time, having a second floor bungalow is HIGHLY inconvenient, going up and down constantly with diaper bags, a 26 pound baby, etc. Too much to carry.
First floor bungalow for people with small children *** TRUST ME****

Going on vacation with a one year old can be a less than relaxing trip and we were just thrilled to hear that this wasn’t the case on this particular visit. Our ladies do a wonderful job cleaning every one of our guest rooms and we were pleased to hear that they did not disappoint.

We are truly lucky to have the beauty of the Mangrove Sanctuary and Boardwalk in our back yard until you see it in person it really is hard to describe. The shade of the trees really is a bonus and we were happy to hear that this walk left a positive memory of your vacation. You had said you were disappointed that the beach bar did not serve food after 5pm and we apologize for this. I have shared your comments with our Director of Food and Beverage to consider.
Our beach facility is second to none, and I hear nothing but accolades from guests nearly every time the beach is mentioned and so I was surprised to hear of your experience. Clearly if you were with an infant we should have kept you close to the boardwalk and I will bring this to the attention of the Beach Manager to ensure this scenario is not repeated.
We truly appreciate each and every aspect of your review and will certainly share your comments with our teams, both to make improvements where needed, and of course to recognize their teams for a job well done.
You had mentioned that you received an upgrade certificate, and we hope you will take advantage of that on a future trip.
