We stayed here in February 2005 and found it to be clean, well-kept, and conveniently located, so we decided to stay again this year. Unfortunately, the property seems to have gone "downhill" since our last visit. There are some good points -- the room was large and laid out well. I especially liked the refrigerator/wet bar area. The continental breakfast is above average with lots of options, and although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, there is a Cracker Barrel and a Waffle House within easy walking distance.
The "down side" -- the room was very "worn" looking. The walls were dirty, the carpet was very thin in some spots and not attached well. The refrigerator in the room wasn't working well (it didn't seem very cold and there was no control to adjust it), and the shelves on the refrigerator door were not usable. I asked to be moved to another room, but was told there wasn't one available. They did say they would send Maintenance to our room to fix the refrigerator. This didn't happen, and after two days of asking again and again, I finally gave up. On our third day, Housekeeping didn't leave any soap. When I called the front desk, I was told I would have to come down there to get some. The fourth day, Housekeeping didn't leave any clean towels. I was again told I needed to come to the front desk and get my own if I wanted some. The elevators (there is no stairwell access to the rooms - you must take the elevator)were noisy and shaky. When I looked at the elevator inspection permit, I saw that it expired in August of 2005 - six months ago!
I can't say it was the worst hotel I've ever seen, and it certainly has some good points, but I don't think I want to stay here again. Who knows how much it will deteriorate in the next year?
