My wife and I booked BellaSera primarily on the strength of the TripAdvisor recs, but we were prepared for . . . well, a more pedestrian experience than the glowing reviews would have indicated. We stay primarily at fancier hotels, and the fact that this was an all-suite place made us think, "Timeshare. Well, it'll probably be just fine. It's certainly inexpensive."
Actually, it's very nice. The two-bedroom suite we got was very well kept and felt a lot like an upscale residence - not a fancy one, but a comfortably upscale one. Decent carpet and furnishings, granite countertops throughout, nicer quality tile in a lot of areas. It was roomier than we expected, it was very quiet, and it was superbly comfortable with the living room and screened lanai. The kitchen has all the basics, and the hotel staff is unobtrusive, gracious and quietly professional - everything is done right without anything needing to be requested. (More than I would have expected, actually - we tipped well, but housekeeping did our dishes every day, which is a whole lot more than I ever would have thought.) Washer/drier made life easier - who'd've thought of doing laundry on vacation? Parking was easy right outside the room. My wife enjoyed the spa and the pool (which was larger than photos led me to believe, tho by no means huge), and service at the poolside restaurant was great. Wireless high-speed internet (on which I'm writing this review) is free throughout the hotel. Place felt totally safe and secure - and there's a safe in the room for valuables. We mean this in the best way - BellaSera feels like a really nice place in Mexico - except that everything works perfectly.
And the BellaSera has a terrific location. If you're in any kind of fit shape, you'll have no trouble walking to a number of great places on 5th Ave S. The hotel sits on Tamiami Trail, but somehow is insulated from road noise (at least our room was) - and the proximity to the main road makes getting to numerous restaurants (there's a heck of a lot of great food in Naples) and shopping outlets just easy as pie. The beach is an easy jog or three-minute drive away (and the bell man is happy to drive you over and pick you up in the van - also, a good number of easy-to-ride beach bikes are available for borrowing, together with locks). The location just really couldn't be better.
We came here on sort of a lark, but we're already planning our next trip back.
