I was recommended this hotel by a snow-bird who winters in Florida. I usually go for four/five star so I took a lot of persuasion to check in for 18 days in this two star. I was finally convinced when they mentioned a Bentley-driving mutual friend who has stayed there regularly and who could easily afford the Ritz Carlton.
The bottom line: I would definitely go back again to the Cove Inn – but probably won’t because the weather wasn’t good enough.
The Cove Inn has two great pluses: (i) Location (ii) Cost.
(i) We never had the expense or hassle of using a cab to go dining. Campiellos, which everyone thinks is great, is ten minutes walk away and the Bleu Provence, which I think is great, is three minutes walk. All the restaurants, pubs and shops of 5th Avenue are between 10 and twenty minutes walk. All the restaurants, pubs and shops of 3rd Street are 10 minutes walk
ii) It cost about $100 per night and for that, apart from the great location, you get: a medium sized, heated pool which was never very crowded, the Chickee Bar, linen changed about every second day, nice view overlooking yachts.
However there were some negatives: the kitchen equipment in our room was old and inadequate and remember it is a two star so if you really need 5 star pampering think twice.
