My wife and twin teenagers just returned from a very nice vacation in Naples, during which we stayed in a 3-bedroom suite at the Greenlinks resort. This was our first trip to Naples, which we found to be quite enjoyable. While not fancy, the Greenlinks was a fairly new condo within a larger community called the Lely Grand. The condo (room 521) was clean and spacious with a nice view of the 10th hole of the Flamingo Island course, one of three within the Lely complex. When booking the reservation online, I noticed that (not surprisingly) we were paying a premium for Christmas week. Even so, I found the cost to be quite reasonable relative to the accomodations. Traveling at another time of year looks like a virtual "steal".
My son and I played the two courses available to non-residents, the Mustang and Flamingo Island courses. Both courses were in great shape. While they both had fairly open fairways (great for a slicer like me), the hilly nature of the Flamingo Island made it quite a bit more difficult than the Mustang.
The Greenlinks has a fairly small pool with a comfortable lounge area surrounding it. The restaurant at the nearby Clubhouse had a very nice and reasonably priced breakfast buffet. We also had an enjoyable lunch there.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The small lobby area has a single Internet-connected PC available for guest use and a wireless connection available there (but not in the rooms) in case you bring your own laptop PC. You may have read in other reviews about the home-baked cookies and muffins. While we never made it for the muffins (apparently they came out at 8AM), we did take advantage of the cookies on two occasions, when they came out at 3PM. While the rest of my family loved them, they were a little raw for my taste. Nonetheless, this is a nice little touch.
It should be pointed out that the Greenlinks is in a residentail area of Naples which is a considerable distance from the main (upscale) shopping district, a 15-20 minute drive. Our favoiite meal was at Bice, an excellent Italian restaurant with siblings elsewhere in the U.S. and other parts of the world. When the weather is warm (as it was for our stay) it's great to sit at a table outdoors. We also took a pleasurable sightseeing tour on the Naples Princess, where the main feature is an impressive array of waterfront mansions.
This was a relaxing and enjoyable trip. We will definitely return to Naples and Greenlinks.
