Great experience. Very respectful and knowledgeable crew. Worked hard the entire day to put us on the fish. Hooked up on over 150 fish between 3 guys. Great day. Highly recommend.
I have gone fishing with these guys several times and it has been consistently great!! Captain Joe makes sure everyone has a good time, he knows the right spots and we always come home with some fabulous fish for dinner!
If there is truly a fisherman's heaven, it would be Kodiak Island Resort on Larsons Bay, Kodiak Island, Alaska. However, if you aren't interested in catching 100+ pound halibut, or, 40+ pound ling cod, or, 20+ pound yellow eye rockfish, or 5+ pound black sea bass, or, 10+ pound pacific cod, don't even think of going there. I took my two sons back to Kodiak Island Resort in July, 2014. This was my 2nd time at the fishing resort to top all fishing resorts. The beautiful lodge is owned by Allen Wallburn and his wonderful wife April. The great fishing boat is captained by his son Joe who has never failed to put the boat on a spot loaded with fish. During a 4-day fishing vacation, we caught halibut over 110 pound on two different days. On my last trip back in 2009, an individual fishing with us boated a 287 pound halibut and my son caught a 141 pound halibut. I never cease to be amazed by Joe's ability to put the boat on top of fish, even in 300 feet of water. If ever you want a salt water fishing experience of a lifetime, I strongly recommend that you sign up five nights lodging and 4 full days of fishing at Kodiak Island Resort. Can't wait to go back for my 3rd visit.
We were a party of 7 having our first experience of deep sea fishing. We had a fantastic day and without doubt the highlight of our holiday to Naples. The boat was very comfortable and plenty of shade from the sun. It was well equipped and as complete fishing novices the crew were very accommodating and understanding of our needs. We caught an amazing amount of fish (grouper and snapper) with most above the legal keep limits. We ended up taking home plenty of well filleted fish which we have enjoyed eating tonight. A must trip for anyone wanting to try sea fishing in Florida.

Our family and friends went out for a full day of deep sea fishing yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Captain Jim and First Mate Howard were extremely knowledgable and attentive. Fishing is not an exact science... There are no guarantees that you're going to end up with a huge catch. While we did get a lot of activity in many spots, much of what we caught we had to release because the fish were below the legal size minimums. We did have two great catches though, one of which we ate last night and it was delicious! We can't say enough good things about the experience and the crew! If you're thinking of chartering a fishing boat in Naples, there's no need to look further. As to the "Jerks" review, I think the reviewer must have been looking in the mirror while writing the review. The cost for charter boats is pretty consistent across the board and tipping is generally 15-20%. If they had done their homework, there should not have been any surprises. When we come back, we'll definitely charter with A&B again.
I have been on many such trips in various countries, and this was by far the worst.
The crew were arrogant and self important.
As we were unsatisfied with the trip and didn't tip (I see no reason to tip when it's so terrible you are just desperate to get off the boat) so they started insulting us as we left.
I wouldn't recommend this company if you are looking for a pleasant day out.
We believe this review is related to a similar one posted on June 24th. We have been unable to get any info out of Tripadvisor relating to the reviewer so we are posting the same management response as the one on 6/24.
We have no record of having these folks on a charter. Tripadvisor has been contacted to investigate if the review is legitimate.
Assuming the review is legitimate we are extremely disappointed the clients were unhappy. Rest assured that my staff at no time has ever cussed someone for not leaving a tip. Secondly, catching 24" grouper (10-12 pounds) is good for 1/2 day fishing so I can't apologize for that. If the mate was cutting small fish for bait that should have ceased if the clients made that request.
It is difficult to discuss this review when no crew member or marina worker has any recollection of a trip such as this. We have every reason to suspect the review is fraudulent and hopefully will soon be removed. If anyone should ever have this experience on one of our boats our office should be contacted immediately for resolution and satisfaction.
This review, if true is unfortunate. It is too bad we don't have any way to contact the offended party. My number is 239-263-8833 if you would like to contact us to discuss a refund.
