“Improved by Shona sculpture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013 via mobile

The gardens are beautifully laid out and very enjoyable on a nice day. Their is at present an exhibit of Zimbabwe Shona sculpture scattered through the gardens till third week of March. The sculpture adds an extra star to this attraction. They blend beautifully together.

“A Real Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

After reading some of the reviews, I thought this might be a so-so botanical garden. I do not agree with the reviews that said this garden was not well maintained and the some of the plants looked tired. Do the reviewers realize that even Florida has a winter season? Some plants were just beginning to leaf out when we visited in early March. I have visited Botanical Gardens all over the US and I am a Master Gardener. This garden may not rival Missouri Botanical Garden in St Louis but it is a great botanical garden. We really enjoyed strolling the grounds and the many different types of gardens, such as Asian or Caribbean, designed by various landscape architects, were great examples of the countries' flora. The garden abuts a preserve and you can also walk the trails there. We saw a family of otters playing from a birding tower in the preserve as well as numerous species of native birds. If you enjoy plants, you can spend several hours or more touring this attraction. Plans for the future call for a cafe to be built on site but there is a cart with sandwiches and snacks where you can grab a quick lunch. We took a tour with a docent when we arrived for an overview of the entire garden and then we went back and viewed each of the areas more slowly and closely. We really enjoyed visiting this garden.

“A great afternoon walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

A short chat with the ticket seller at the entrance revealed to us that this place is only a few years old. Given that, they have done a beautiful job and I'm sure things will only get better. A nice way to spend an afternoon walking in these gardens.

“relaxing visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We spent a lovely afternoon just strolling the gardens. There were so many places to just sit and relax and enjoy your surroundings. We also loved the tranquility of the bird viewing platform at the edge of the gardens that overlooked a wetlands. We enjoyed our time stretched out in the rope hammock and took advantage of the cool photo op. If you go just relax and stroll the gardens. It is something you will remember when you return to the cold North.

“Beauty on display”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013 via mobile

This is a real find. Beautiful and diverse gardens, well tended and clearly identified, should please anyone with even a modicum of interest in tropical flowers and gardens. The docents are knowledgable and eager to please. The day we were there most of the guests were charter members of the blue rinse crowd, but the gardens have a well planned area for children. If you go, plan to spend at least two hours.
