“Nature and Knowledge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Spent one day of our week vacation in Naples at Marco Island. On the way in we stopped by Rookery Bay Preserve which turned out to be the highlight of the day. This is a nature and teaching center located at the edge of the Everglades. After walking out the main building we signed up for the walking tour. This was an hour long tour with a guide who was knowledgable of the area. He took his time explaining the various parts of nature that were found at Rookery. We got a good idea of what this part of Florida was like before development.

“Calling all Nature Lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

If you love nature, don't visit Naples and miss this. More important, Neapolitans should make a point to join and become a part of this terrific experience.

“Professional and Profound (if you love nature)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

All the guided trips, whether walking, kayaking or on a boat are worth every cent. This is a pristine esturine environment (the northern edge of the 10,000 Islands Everglades National Park) with many wonders to behold, such as harrier hawks, swimming sea hares, and (on the hard wood islands) specks of igneous rock washed here over many millenia from the North Carolina mountains once as high as the Himalayas. Ask for Captain Randy. If he is your naturalist guide you are in for a treat.

“Back to Nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

What a wonderful area to stroll around and see the different palms native to the area. I would recommend taking one of the tours offered by the volunteers provided. Extremely knowledgable. And don't forget to tour the small museum with the main building. Many side trips are available, but would recommend calling ahead for times.
