“Well Maintained”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2012

The entry was $10 each but everything is well maintained and nice visitor center with clean bathrooms and nice gift shop as well as a cafe but it was closed.
We arrived later in day so had to rush as it is a long wooden walkway through the sanctuary.
Great bulletin board at the beginning to help identify creatures you might see. We saw several different birds and a turtle. This is a very peaceful place and nice photo opportunities. Also a good way to exercise and enjoy nature. Lady at center pleasant and also plenty of parking.
This is off the normal path though so have a drive to get there. Allow yourself plenty of time if you are going in afternoon as they lock the gates at a specific time. Walkway is elevated wood planks and some areas in shade and some in sun but no problem. Also may encounter biting bugs.

“Nature made easy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

This Audubon sanctuary offers an easy introduction to the wildlife of South Florida. A stroll along the boardwalk takes you through a variety of habitats common to the area, complete with its inhabitants. There are plenty of small side areas that allow you to get off the main boardwalk and sit with your binoculars to look for the more elusive birds. You may be so awed by the place that you linger at spots near the beginning of the walk. But as others have noted, the more interesting habitats where you're apt to see more wildlife is on the back half. If the 2 1/2 miles seems more than you're willing or able to walk, there's a cutoff that will shorten your walk. Early morning is the best time to visit if you can.

“Excellent Walk Through Nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

Corkscrew Sanctuary is amazing. If you are quiet, you'll spot wildlife at every turn. Racoons, gators, snakes, otters, deer, owls, many different birds, and incredible flowers and plant life. This is a nature walk and it is so very important to be as quiet as possible. The best time to visit is early morning. Take your time- look up into the trees, look out into the meadows. Leave your cell phones in the car. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, or birdwatch. Bring bug repellent- the mosquitos are relentless after a good rain. It's really not a place for children, unless they know and understand to respect nature. Food is not allowed on the boardwalk. Bathrooms are only located in the visitor center before going out on the boardwalk. There is an option for a shorter walk. If you make it out to this part of Florida, and love nature, go to the sanctuary. Bring binoculars, and water.
