The first time my husband and I discovered the Lakeside Inn, in the quaint little town of Mt. Dora, we were vacationing about an hour outside of town. It was upon our adventures in the area that we came across the Lakeside Inn, and the moment we saw it, we knew it was for us! We were ready to rush back to our hotel, pack our bags and drive back to Lakeside. Unfortunately for us there was a car show in town that weekend and there were no rooms available. We left sad but determined to return the following year. As the year approached we began checking out reviews and to our surprise not all of them were favorable. However; we realize that everyone's experience is different, as well as their hopes and expectations; so keeping that in mind, we chose to give it a chance. Are we ever glad we did !!! We just love the Lakeside Inn and I'm so glad we went with an open mind, coz it opened us up to a whole new world! The location truly is ideal. The Lake is gorgeous and right at your fingertips. You can enjoy sitting out on the dock, take a seaplane ride over the lake, or boat tours through the swamp areas, and not to mention a nice stroll through the town directly outside the front entrance. This is a Historic Inn, that at one time swarmed with elegance, beauty and charm, and just like us, over the years has weathered some storms. Yet it still manages to maintain that wonderful feeling of taking a step back in time, which adds to the beauty of this place. The Inn is now in the process of being restored and the new owner has done it proud and continues to make a difference with the new renovations, which by the way takes time, patience, perseverance and of course, money! Since our last stay this past March, we just had to come back for the Blues festival last weekend and once again we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed meeting the locals in town, as well as the fellow travelers at the Lakeside Inn, and loved the new renovations, but what really makes the biggest difference for us.... is the staff. Upon our first visit in March, they were simply mere strangers, but now...just a few months later, they are like family, and always will be. From Nelson, our waiter (yes "our" waiter, coz we'll ask for him every time lol), to Sabrina and Jamie in Registration, and Andi and Cathy in Guest Accommodations. They are the ones who make the difference for us. Each and every one has been very accommodating, friendly, courteous and professional, going above and beyond our expectations to making our stay with them the best experience for us! That's what makes Lakeside Inn so special to us and a place that we call our "home away from home". Can't wait to go back! (Ron and Janet P.)
