I cannot say enough about our experience at the Adora Inn. First of all John and Arthur are so delightful and honestly, even before we arrived I felt good vibes could not wait to get there for a well awaited time away to relax.
When we arrived we noticed how the property is so well maintained and to me, very classy with a warmth that speaks for itself. We met Arthur at the back door by the gourmet kitchen which fell dear to my heart because I always appreciate a high end gourmet kitchen. I love to cook as well. We were surprised to know that although we were set up for a queen room (The Periwinkle), the Treehouse (which feels like a Suite to me) became available and which they offered. It has a Roman tub with an open, clean, cheery feel and yet it was very cozy and warm and also so peaceful. Just taking a bath in that tub was worth the trip.
As we got to know John and Arthur we found out that they used to live where we (my wife and I) grew up and we remininced about places we have been. As we looked around the house, we noticed lovely art. The amazing thing is that Arthur is the artist of all the artwork in the house. Absolutely stunning art. The quality of the bed (and I am very fussy about beds because of my back), was excellent. The linens were super fresh and comfy. The lighting and windows in the room were also cheery and yet when you dropped down the shades, it gave it another lovely hew. Because you are literally at treetop level, you have the privacy with the backdrop of the sky.
After soaking all this up, we had massages scheduled of which were out of this world. After which we both took a brief nap and did some reading in the room and then got ready for our gourmet dinner on the lanai/porch area. Coming from Miami, I felt like I was in South Beach. The decor and ambience was outstanding and was better than any 5 star restaurant I have ever been and I have been to quite a few in Miami. The dinner was to die for and the dessert, well I can't even express. I never had that kind of quality dessert in my life.
When you couple all of this with the quaint stroll through downtown historic Mount Dora, you end up with such a well rounded satisfying experience.
When morning arrived, I was so looking forward to breakfast. But before heading down from our room, I had to take one more bath in that scrumptous Roman Tub. Everything felt so simple and and so meaningful and fufilling, I was already thinking about when we would come again.
Arthur was working away in that beautiful gourmet kitchen sharing with me what would be for our breakfast meal, as the other guests began to trickle down the stairs. We began great conversations over aromatic hot coffee. What really grabbed me was when I walked into the living room area, again adorned by Arthur's amazing art, they had Sarah Vaughn playing with a familiar tune that I knew. That really took the cake for me to wake up to that.
Then the beautiful dogs, Layla and Rommy. I took pictures of the two of them and pictures of my breakfast plate because it as so beautiful. I know a bit dramatic but it was amazing to me.
As we packed up and started out, we said our thank yous and good-byes to the guys with warm hugs. It felt like we knew them for years, it was cool.
So, with all this being said I have great pleasure sharing my experience and can't wait to go back.
I am so glad we met John and Arthur and were able to share their wonderful exceptional B&B.
It truly is what they say it is. A Boutique B&B.
