We stayed for 5 days at the Wingate in Miramar, Florida before going to a cruise. We were concerned because pictures can be deceiving and found other hotels weren't as described. I read the reviews and we decided to stay here. I am so happy we did. The location is just a 20 minute or so ride from the Fort Lauderdale Airport, it is near other high end hotels. Just a block or so away are many great restaurants and shops. A dollar store, publix, walmart, Kohls and much more. The hotel staff were fantastic. They were courteous and provided everything we needed whenever we asked. The hot breakfast was a surprise. Great Coffee!! Eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, yogurt, bagels and more. The pool was nice, although during our visit it was a little breezy and the water was very cold. I wish they could warm up the water some as it would have been much more pleasant. The room was perfect. We got a king suite, with a sofa bed and it was perfect for our family. No complaints, no issues. I recommend this to anyone traveling in this area. If I go back to Fort Lauderdale I would definitely stay there again.

The room was very clean and well equipped. However our room faced Highway I75 and even with a sealed window the traffic noise was like camping next to the M25 Motorway in a tent during rush hour ! I complained at reception and she said that some guests liked the noise and asked for those rooms !!!!! They couln't or wouldn't change our room and even with blankets and cushions stacked up against the window we got no sleep at all. Now may be the rooms on the other side of the hotel facing away from I75 are Ok, but you have a 50/50 chance when booking. I've stayed in rooms across America right next to airport runways and rail tracks without ever experiencing anything this bad. Could and should do better AVOID !
