“Safe and relaxing environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Been there more than a decade now but i just passed by last year. Stayed in one of the cottages lent by the owner (my circle of friends in Almeria). It's a quiet place where you can meditate, so relaxing with its panoramic sea view and of course what counts most is the staff and owner's hospitable and welcoming smile to the guests. We even went there for overnight stay in the beach with my good friends in Almeria, chatting, singing with guitar strumming. Whew!!! That was my most memorable days when i was pursuing my degree in the university and take a break spending my vacation here even for a short while!!! Looking forward of visiting this grandeur beach along my good old friends over there. missuguys:-)

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

This motel-like complex is accessed via a reasonably steep descent from the National Highway. It is just before the access road to VRC Resort and is past the major town of Naval and the smaller town of Almeria heading north.

The reception area has pleasant gardens while the beach is pleasant enough but not stunning. A September 2012 Cebu Pacific airline magazine ('Smiles') article described the beach as 'mediocre' which is a little unfair. The beach has Agta-owned picnic tables, mostly shaded.

When she eventually appeared, the female manager was friendly and had some English.

The rooms are accessed via the outdoor covered eating area which has basic tables and chairs.

The rooms are probably only 20 or so years old but look older. There are two steep steps internally between what passes as the foyer and the simply furnished bedroom, which had a double bed, a chair on each level, a modern flat TV on the upper level and a small table on the lower level. There was a fairly effective but noisy airconditioner that partly below onto the bed.

The shower's water heater worked fine.

The resort suffered (not its own fault) from continual karaoke being played (until at least 2300 hours) at the adjacent VRC Resort. I suspect that it was three or four fairly young locals drinking and singing. It was hard on the ears and annoying.

The breakfast was dresh fish caught that morning for which we paid a fisherman or wholesaler (I couldn't tell which) P120 (A$2.90) for about eight. They were delicious. The staff also cooked some Filipino sausage and ham.

The resort arranged two boatman and a bangka to take us for P700 to the excellent Dalutan Island for the morning. They had to wait until about 0900 when the tide came in.

This place wasn't disastrous for P1200 (a room without a TV and fridge is only P600) but Marvin's Seaside Inn on the Almeria side of Naval only charges P1500 and is much better.
