Let me first establish why we attempted (more on that later) to stay here to begin with. We received last minute tickets to the UF/UCF football game and did not want to drive home after a busy day of having a good time. I booked this hotel from the Knights Inn website for $80.00 per night because every single hotel/motel in Gainsville was completely booked. Mistake #1.....do NOT pay more than $40 a night at this dump.
There should be no reason that anyone needs to stay here. If the hotels in Gainesville are booked, go North a few exits on I-75 or go South to Ocala.
This property needs to be bulldozed over and re-built. It is a disaster. We arrived to check-in at 3:00 P.M. and the gentleman was very helpful. We checked in and proceeded to our room. Immediately, I felt very unsafe. The lock on the door was almost broken. Upon opening the door, we were taken back by a horrific odor (none of us could determine what it was).
The room is in need of desperate repair. My friend (just by walking into the room) immediately felt grossed out. She took the linens off of the bed only to find stains and pubic hair underneath them. The bathroom ceiling was caving in, the towels and 1 washcloth provided were threadbare, and the bathroom definitely needed some deep cleaning.
Well, we all said, "this is just for one night, lets stick it out." We left the property and drove to meet our friends in Gainesville. After really thinking about it more and more, we felt our health was more important than money, so after the game we decided to check-out and drive back home to Orlando. That must tell you something..we rather have lost $87 than spend one night in that filthy scary place.
Please avoid this hotel at all costs. It is the most disguisting place I have ever seen.
