“Don't pay full price!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2006

Thanks to Hotwire we paid much less than full price which we would not have excused ourselves for paying! There are two towers, I visited the first in order to do laundry and I am not even sure that it looked better than the one for the poor relatives we were sent to. The walls in the bathroom were peeling, the television reception was full of snow, the wireless internet was disconnected every few minutes. The doors to all the rooms, first and second tower were dirty. The cleaning lady was in a hurry, did not put the bedspreads on, did not leave coffee cups. There was no coffee or sugar on the first night either (we always bring our own but rely on the cups and the coffee maker to warm the water). There were only three bath towels (we are a family of four). No noise from the airport! Location was fine for us. All other options would be much more expensive!

  • Liked — No noise from the airport
  • Disliked — Cleanliness
  • Tips/Secrets — Do not pay full price. Consider it as an option thru Hotwire/Priceline.

We stayed just one night to get a connecting flight the next day.

Check in was easy - we didn't have a voucher as we booked via the internet, but they were able to overcome this.

The rooms are a good standard, bed very comfortable, good choice of films to watch. The breakfast was plentiful, but not impressive and not much for vegetarians.

NOTE: we wanted to go out for a meal, but there are no restaurants nearby (only Pollo Tropical). Car is essential, but was not worth it for us as we only stayed one night.

The airport transfer really is only 5mins.

  • Liked — 5 mins to airport!
  • Disliked — no local restaurants

We stayed at this hotel for two nights, everything was average, nothing spectacular. We chose it because it was very close to the airport. (about five minutes by car and two lights from most of the rental car areas) The front desk helped if asked but didn't sound eager by any means. We did get a two bed room which was helpful because we did not specify which we needed, and there is free wireless throughout the hotel. (we could only use it for one night though because there was a problem with the main controls or something) There are two wings, and we stayed in my opinion, the worse one. The hallways were not as clean but the room was decent. This hotel is okay for one or two days, but I would not recommend it for any longer.

  • Liked — wireless internet, but nothing great
  • Disliked — everything was okay

Our main reason for choosing this hotel was its proximity to the airport; we had an early flight the next morning.
Checking in after disembarking from a cruise, the agent at the front desk told us she had "a beautiful room" for us. Up to the 8th floor, to find other people still in the room. Back down to the desk, apologies all round and another room provided. Back up to the 8th floor...room still not cleaned from previous guests. Back down to the lobby again, this time they had nothing for us with a king but gave us two doubles, instructions to check back after 2:30 to see if a king was available, and a coupon for free breakfast.
The restaurant has great views of the airport (we both enjoy planespotting) but the windows were covered with a sunblocking film that was peeling and stained with bird droppings.
After a nap we decided to go out into the city but wanted to lock up our passports and laptop first so we tried to use the inroom safe. It had been left locked by the previous guests, so we called down to the desk for assistance and were told someone would come up to assist. Twenty minutes later, no one had arrived, so we called down again to be advised that we could use the safety deposit boxes at the front desk.
On the whole the hotel seems to be struggling with upholding basic levels of maintenance and service. However, it did provide a cheap night's sleep and a quick trip to the airport the next morning.

  • Liked — Low price, convenient location near airport
  • Disliked — Bare minimum standards of maintenance and service

The first thing is that this place is terribly located. It is sort of on an island in the middle of major roads and a freeway. Just to cross the road means taking your life into your own hands. The configuration is ot he building is also a mess. There are two towers with separate elevator access. It means that if you're located in the 2nd tower, you have to come right down to the ground floor to get to the rest of the facilities. The restarurant is on the 9th floor of the main tower. The breakfast arrangements are awful. There's no buffet and you are locked in to some expensive combinations which you're not allowed to alter....their aim is obviously to extract as much cash from you as possible. My toilet backed up from the first day.....that was a big turn-off as you can imagine. The "view" from my room is of a large garbage collection area. There are a lot of hotels in the airport area and this is definitely not one you should choose.

  • Liked — My room was quite large but that's probably becasue it was a "disabled" room
  • Disliked — lotcation, location, location
  • Tips/Secrets — for the price and for something close to MIA airport, choose the Marriott group of hotels or Crowne Plaza

This hotel is perfect for a 1 night stay before a cruise and nothing else. The location is NOT good for a vacation. They offer a free airport shuttle which was nice and fast. The also offer a free cruise port shuttle in a very nice coach. The staff was nice overall. I must have had a renovated room because it was clean and new looking. It is your standard hotel room.

  • Liked — The beds and bathroom size.
  • Disliked — Staff.
  • Tips/Secrets — The cruise shuttle leaves at noon. NO ONE WHO WORKED THERE KNEW!

I would not recommend this hotel or stay in it again, at least not for the price. I could have stayed at an old Motel 6 and have gotten just a little less. The restaurant was expensive but the meal was not nice. It took forever to get your food and we were the only ones in the restaurant and I ordered Nachos. The place smelled stale and I felt that we were put in the old part of the building because we booked with hotwire. The room had no bathroom fan, was small and outdated. The a/c was not cooling the room. The lamps did not work, the tour bus did not run on time and the place was outdated especially for a three star hotel. I definately would not go there again at that price, maybe for 35-40 dollars but certainly not for what I paid for it. I was very disappointed that a Holiday Inn was so far away from my expectations. I thought that Holiday Inn was a quality hotel. I was wrong....at least at this location. I would be very hesitant to stay at another..
