“Older building but a good hotel”

Holiday Inn Miami International Airport

I have stayed with this hotel two times now as my plane ticket on both sides required me to stay overnight in Miami. I am pleased with my stay overall and for the right purposes definitely recommend this hotel...

Physical building: while if you look you can see this building itself was not built within the last few years (i.e. nicks in some doorframes, perhaps see a spot where there was a paint job from a previous style of decoration), the building has been cared for and money has been invested into keeping the hotel up. In the two rooms I have been in, you can see obvious new carpeting, lighting, wallpaper, etc. Public spaces are cared for. In fact, on the first stay, not only did they do normal things like clean the room, they brought a new flat-screen TV for me! Okay, it was coincidence they were installing the TV's while I was in my particular room, but they are installing the big flat-screens in all the rooms.

Beds: Oh, my gosh...they are seemingly new pillowtop mattresses and I don't think you'll want to get out of the bed! Additionally, the beds I've had automatically had some regular and down pillows. It was a great bed overall.

Staff: The Front Desk is friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff wasn't overly friendly, but not surly either. You should be okay with the staff. Shuttle/bellman staff was generally helpful too.

Location: This may be a downside for you...honestly, there isn't much around the property in terms of touristy stuff. About all I saw was two fast food restaurants and a Bennigan's a few blocks away. There is the hotel's restaurant, though. The hotel seems to be really focused to the customer who needs to be near the airport. For that purpose, it's fine. However, if you don't have a car, you may be a little stranded. The shuttle, I'm told, is only for back and forth to the airport (and other reviewers say to the Port, but I can't comment on that). If you need/want attractions near your hotel, this location is probably not for you.

Overall, this Holiday Inn seems to be one of the better ones and for the property itself I can again recommend it. Just be mindful of the location issue.

Ok If I paid $159 a night for it, yes I would be disappointed. We paid $70 - Priceline.com name your own price. We stayed in tower 2, room 422. King bed, clean room. We only stayed one night post cruise.

I first want to start off by saying that I was very worried after booking this hotel with Priceline. I read all of the reviews, and didn't feel so great about the property. Normally the rate is $158, but with Priceline we paid $75. Upon arrival to the property we were allowed to check in about five hours earlier than the actual check-in time. The hotel is clean, has pool, restaurant on the 9th floor. The first thing you must know is that if you're looking for peace and quietness for a vacation or something, this is not the hotel for you. That being said, we are currently on Spring Break, so we didn't mind the occasional plane flying past your window early in the morning. The staff are extremley nice and happy to help with a lot of your questions. One of the concierges werent terribly helpful, didn't seem like he wanted to be at work. The front desk was very helpful, and so was housekeeping. On the street of the hotel, there is really nothing to eat but Burger King and Pollo Tropical chicken, which is actually pretty good. Overall we enjoyed our stay, we didn't spend much time in the hotel, but the time spent for the most part was ok. If you're going to stay during a Saturday night, keep in mind there is a bar on the 9th floor that turns into a noisy Salsa club. The noise from the bar is the reason why I'm writing this review at 2:11 AM. Other than the ocassional noice, etc. I would recommend the property for people looking to book through priceline. My only real advice is that you should make sure you don't pay full price! for this hotel. Be sure to name a very low price on priceline, and save your money. We were here for six days, and probably saved about $500 for booking on priceline. Dontstairs in the lobby they have a free computer which is really helpful, and they also have a printer. The airport is literally right across the street, so that you be helpful to a lot of people.

“Old, but rundown”

Holiday Inn Miami International Airport

Feb 21, 2008

Convenient location from rental car pickup. Checked in the room, got to room, had problems right away. Telephone did not work, went to front desk and told them, they sent a maintenance man, he worked on phone, and fixed it. For some reason he brought another remote control for TV that I did not ask for and switched the remote control. After he left we found that the remote he brought did not work. Not sure why he switched them when we didn't ask for one. Carpet had numerous stains. Metal strip between bedroom and bathroom had frayed carpet and you could easily cut your foot on the strip. Bathroom smelled funny so had to get deodorizer. Only good things were the bed and a good sized room.
