“Surprised at the great value received at such a low price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2011

We were picked up at the airport by a free shuttle, taken to the hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was since we had such a low room rate. It was very clean, comfortable and quaint. We were taken to the port the next morning in plenty of time to board our cruise ship. Our only disappointment was that it took nearly an hour to be picked up from the airport after our arrival in Miami. We would still recommend this hotel to others.
It's a great value for the money.

Good: it is close to the airport and has a nice lobby. The one staff member we saw during our stay was polite.
Bad: this is a very old hotel that has not been nearly as renovated as they would like you to think. The hallway and rooms looked and felt like an old dormitory. There are no controls for heat or airconditioning - what comes out of the vent is what you get. There are large gaps under the door so you hear everyone going up and down the hallway and have contant light coming in the room. The rooms have an old musty smell. There is "24 hour" shuttle service to the airport, but the shuttle only runs every one to two hours on the hour at their schedule - you don't get to pick a time.
Ugly: The first room we were given had a terrible urine odor in it and when we looked out the window there was a "house" made out of tarps about 3 feet from the window. Also, there was an alarm clock going off in the room next door. We immediatly asked for another room that smelled only slightly better. The parking lot is located behind the hotel and very poorly lit - not very safe for that area. I would not recommend staying here if you are traveling alone - especially if you are female.

The shuttle picked us up at the airport, took us to the hotel. The driver was very friendly. Staff was ok, not to friendly. Very business like, wanted to check in and get my money. Hard to understand, they didn't speak english. The room was just ok, not to nice. The toliet was against the wall, had difficult time using it. Shuttle to dock was useful. For $62, I can't complain.

Bad neighborhood, dirty rooms, rude front desk. The room - picture a jail cell with a slightly nicer bed and a wall separating the bed from the toilet.

I have to admit when I first pulled up i was SCARED! Its not in a nice neighborhood at all. There isn't anything to walk to really but some local restaurants. We had rented a car in Ft Lauderdale (where we arrived) and drove to the hotel. Glad we had a rental car or else we would be have been stuck in no-mans land. We returned out rental car (conv. mustang) because we weren't too sure about leaving it sit overnight... The hotel is just fine for someone frugal like me. Room was clean and had working decent shower and tv. We fully took advantage of the free shuttle. We already had checked in at noon, dropped off the rental car around 6 at Miami airport, took the Runway Inn free shuttle to the hotel and also took the free shuttle to Port of Miami the next day! Saved some bucks there. They told us to be in the lobby at 10:30 to go to Port but shuttle didn't arrive till 11:30. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay with free shuttle... here it is!

My husband and I stayed at the Runway Inn because we were on a 12 hour layover at the Miami International Airport. The hotel looked great online, but once we touched down in Miami, we had nothing but problems. We waited for the shuttle driver for 20-30 minutes and when he did show up, he drove right past us even though we know he saw us (looked directly at us as we were waving and yelled for him). After waiting another 20 minutes and two phone calls to the hotel later the shuttle drive came back to pick us up. Once we reached the hotel the clerk behind the counter could not have been more rude and taken more of our time. Despite the fact that I told him we had a reservation 3 times, he apparently could not comprehend the idea. On top of that there was an automatic charge for the safe that we didn't use (this was not advertised on the website either). Once we got to our room, we could not find the remote and when I called down to ask for one the clerk asked me if I looked for it (of course we did...). He showed up 30 minutes later (after midnight at this point) and could not get the remote he brought to work and left again to come back 20 minutes later with another remote that didn't work either. I found makeup on one of the pillowcases and the towel bar fell apart when I grabbed a towel for my shower. When we left at 7:30 the next morning to grab the shuttle for the airport, we asked the manager for some sort of refund. He gave us half our money back and had no excuses for what we had been through. If I could do it again, we would have just stayed at the airport. Best of luck if you plan on staying there...

checked in to a dark, mouldy reception then shown to a dirty room with blood stained wipes and a used razor on the desk top of the room! asked to be moved to another room to when turning back the bed covers found creatures that had probably eaten the bed bugs! they were about 3mm long with claws and teeth. i am still scratching thinking about the experience. really dissapointed as it was late at night and then had to pay $20 for a cab to take us elsewhere to find habitable accomodation.
