“If they ever finish construction...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

We have stayed in the Roney Palace for years, but won't again for a while. Construction has been going on for 2 years and may go even longer. No gym (construction). No direct access to beach until they finish the tear-down of the original wooden boardwalk, which is being converted to cement. Noise is unbearable from 8am to 4:30 pm. Even the one pool that is open is not relaxing because of noise, and many apts. have no balcony access because of construction. Too bad. This used to be a reasonable price and large apartments for the money, but this construction has killed it. Oh, the hotel next door does not exist any more, and won't for a while.

Room Tip: Check to make sure that the construction is finished. If you don't care about the noise, then a...

I think you need to accept a place this size will always be being renovated. It still is.
location is good, rooms are huge and 30 seconds walk to the beach, 10 minutes walk to Lincoln bvd. Very comfortable

The Roney Palace building complex has been half condominium, half hotel for many years. The older reviews you see here date to when the hotel half was also known as the Roney. That was bought out by the Gansevort (sic?) group, which failed as a hotel, which was then bought out by the Starwood Group who are currently undertaking a major reconstruction. The HOTEL is closed until construction is complete.

The Condominium half is subject to ownership rules which prohibit leases of less than 1 month for condo units. The ides behind this, I think, is to prevent folks in fullblown short term party mood from loud or insensitive activity along side long term residents. However, some owners have chosen to circumvent this restriction by signing in paying clients as "Personal Guests." They are, in fact, running an illegal hotel operation.

Yes this hotel/condominium is being remodeled. Yes there is a bit of noise during the day, yes it is a bit dusty during the day but all this is irrelevant. The construction is limited to the outside balconies, walls and fresh coats of paint. Stop whining. The amenities are still available (pools bars etc). Take a short walk and you are on a white sand beach with crystal clear blue waters. There is a boardwalk as well as a paved walking area which runs along the beach!!! The walkway leads you to Ocean drive, food, bars, cigars and beautiful people. Feel free to stop in at some of the hotels that line this walkway, drinks food etc.

Room Tip: The entire hotel is under construction. The construction is to the outside of the building. At the t...

The location is perfect if you are a family with kids. Far away enough from the partying but close enough to restaurants, Espaniola Way, Lincoln mall, etc. The only ocean front that was somewhat affordable in Miami Beach!

Don't do it! This hotel is a giant rip off. No matter what you need they don't have it, everything is way overpriced and they have an extreme knack for throwing in extra charges. The pool is crowded, the hotel itself is nothing special. We've stayed at many hotels in the South Beach area and this is the only hotel of the group that I wouldn't stay at again (not even on a bet). We had a terrible time here, whatever you do don't sign yourself up to learn the same mistake we did!

This hotel is wonderful. It's not as centrally located to the action as one would like, but its is really a magnificent hotel.

The room was probably one of the best hotel rooms that we have ever stayed in...bearing in mind that we travel quite extensively. The rooms are absolutely enormous, with separate living-room and bedroom areas. The bathroom was almost as large as the bed room!

The King-sized bed was the most comfortable bed that we've ever slept on.

The rooms also come with a working kitchen, with your own large fridge, sink, and microwave.

The hotel itself has the feel of a real "beach vacation", and the constant flow of people adds to the warm and friendly atmosphere. The pool isn't all that great, but the beach is fantastic.

Right next door to this hotel is a grocery store, and there is also an "Outback Steakhouse" that serves fantastic and affordable food. The public library is one block away, across the street, and has free Internet access if one requires it.

This is a truly marvelous hotel that I would recommend to anyone, particularly people traveling in large groups.
