“WOW!!! SO BAD!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

OK, this has to be the worst Casino/Hotel in the United States. We entered the casino and tried checking in to the room we reserved and it was unavailable! How, it was booked 2 weeks prior? The attendent said it was because the presidential suite was under construction and then was contradicted by a manger that the room was booked until that Sunday. They gave away our room then offered another suite which was nice, offered the room at a discount and when I left proceeded to charge me regular room rate. I tried to show the lady manager I was given a discount, she then argued with me saying "You cannot have a suite for a cheaper rate, sorry it doesn't work that way, laughed and handed me the bill in full. The Casino is a joke, if you don't smoke you will leave with cancer!!! Only smokless area is a 1000sq ft room filled with 1980's slots that do not work and frankly, I don't think any other casino in the world ever had slots this bad. They honetsly had 3 or 4 recongnizable machines nothing like any typical casino and we have been to a lot. Cruise ships have better gaming than this establishment. Buffet, LOL inedible. 45 min from Airport, Nothing within 4 to 5 miles. Dirty people. Very unkept Casino. Stay Away.

We chose this hotel because it was one of the closest we could get to the Everglades. If you could separate the hotel from the casino, it would not have been a bad experience at all. I had read about the smokiness of the casino, but nothing could have prepared me for the fog of smoke you could actually see in the casino. Once we got out of the lobby, things were fine. The room was clean, well decorated, and did not smell of smoke at all. They actually make you sign a document upon check in that says if you smoke in the room, you will be charged $200 for cleaning fees, however I am not sure how that is enforced. Just from walking through the lobby to get in and then again to go out to eat, My hair smelled of smoke the next morning, so I had to wash my hair the next morning and rush through the lobby to the car.

Room Tip: We were on the 8th floor and our rooms were newly remodeled.

It's hard to rate this hotel because I would give it a BIG negative. From the minute we walked into the hotel we were profiled. Our bags were searched for no reason. We noticed no one else had there bags searched but us (discrimmination is what it felt like). The casino smells and every machine we tried to use did not work. They stole our money. They fail to tell you that you have to redeem your money by midnight or you lose it. No Casino should have a deadline on when to cash YOUR own winnings. The front desk has no concept of customer service. They do not care!!! As for the food, It looked like it was cooked the night before and left out for hours. If you are looking for a good casino go to Calder Casino.

Since all hotels in the Miami Area were booked, we ended up in this awful casino hotel. You enter a huge hall with loads of slot machines, a horrible permanent noise, people drinking and smoking everywhere in a place that hasn't seen much remodeling since it started out in the 1970's. The reception staff did not seem to be very happy with their job, the only friendly staff was the female manager, the rest of the crew were very unwilling.
We had rooms on the 7th and 8th floor, which were updated, with a new bath room and a good comfortable bed. WiFi was included, but to retrieve username and password was solely possible through very unfriendly reception staff.
The inside pool was closed and the gym consisted of a treadmill, one cross trainer and a weight tower. Though in southern Florida they did not have an outside pool.
The Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and a car is a must since there is no infrastructure whatsoever around.
You want to go there only for gambling, smoking and drinking. Horrible place.

Room Tip: 7th and 8th floors only!

We stayed at the Miccosukee because it was close to the Everglades and seemed to get the best rating in the area. Stay away! The smoke is awful everywhere. Our room was a non-smoking room but you could still smell it in the room and on the pillows. Every common area allows smoking, so the martini bar is smoke-filled. They boast 5 restaurants- all are awful except for maybe the most expensive one. The rooms are very worn- don't look too closely at the bathroom door or doorjams. The elevator carpets are stained too. Our coffee maker still had something (we were afraid to look) in it. One of the worst things was the sheets- we had a king sized bed and the there were no fitted sheets. They used a flat sheet that didn't even fit the mattress on the bottom, so my feet were touching the mattress pad all night. I think the sheets were for a queen sized bed. The wireless internet is also not free and you have to call the desk and sign up for it every 24 hrs. The only redeeming quality other than the location and proximity to the Everglades, was the staff, who were all very nice.

Miccosukee Resort and Conference Center is actual a gaming hotel. All you will ever experience is hundreds of geeky machines for gaming enthusiasts. That is gaming like Vegas, not like video games.

When you enter the reception area, the first thing you will notice is the smell of cigarette smoke. It’s just like being back to a 90s party. The next thing you will notice is the tivoli-like sound from the machines. There must be a huge squad of security “guards” in the hotel. At the back side of the building I noticed eight (!) police cars.

We travelled with kids at headed straight for the pool. Three guards told us to keep the kids at the correct side of a line. If the kids made a short cut through the gaming zone, they would almost be arrested. No worries, the kids did fine and are still alive.

The room was standard and okay. We didn’t expect a hotel with charm, and we didn’t get that either.

The world of gaming is an unknown world for me, but it was interesting to observe the players. I would never have guessed this is where the old ladies with purple hair would be.

Parking facilities are great, and it is easy to locate the hotel. We arrived late and left early next morning. It was a practical and user-friendly stay in a strange little world.

The only real redeeming quality is the rooms, which are nice if you get Exec level and up. Slots are Class 2 which means not real Vegas style so not nearly as exciting. Restaurant food was barely edible. Service was curt at best, borderline rude. Officers and security watching you everywhere, also a bit off putting. Would not stay here again, find something else.
