“second stay in Eden Roc, great stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

As decided last year, we spent our spring vacation (birthday) again in this hotel. Prior to the arrival I wrote an email telling that we liked our room No 1139 very much and when we checked in, we got the same room. On my birthday a little cake was delivered to our room with a candle and a kind greeting card. All the staff was very helpful and kind, the room and the view from the big balcony amazing and we also enjoyed the soft music at the pools which could be heard also on our balcony, very relaxing. Also appreciated the adult pool, where we could have a peaceful doze under the umbrella. The room was very quiet, we could not even hear anything from the neighbouring room, wifi was efficient. The Aveda products are great in the bathroom, I even went to buy some products because they were very high quality. Hopefully next year we'll be back - for the 3rd time.

Room Tip: ocean tower, high floor, corner room with view to the ocean, to the pools and also to the yachts bes...

Our stay certainly had it's good points: Clean room, stunning views, fantastic taster menu at 1500 restaurant with wonderful service, and last but certainly not least, Tom at the Cabana beach bar.....what's not to love about him!!

But unfortunately our stay had it's bad points: The reception staff are completely out of their depth. Having read the hotel directory i followed the instructions to request a turn down service for the duration of our stay. Day 1 and attempt number 1 was done over the phone....fail! Day 2 and attempt number 2 was done face to face at reception.......fail! Day 3 and attempt number 3 was done over the phone and at reception....fail! By day 4 i had given up hope......but wait, what's this....a knock at our door for turn down service....at 16.45......fail!!!!

This coupled with countless qestions they had no answer to, the lack of a late check out in a half full hotel, and a $50 charge for the two of us to take a shower at the spa (the staff at the spa were very friendly, this is not a reflection on them) before leaving, means we will not be staying there again.

Miami though, we LOVED!

This hotel has become our home-away-from-home, in a sense, or at least that's how we'd like to think of it. There is perhaps no better blending of history and contemporary anywhere in Miami Beach.

Having just wrapped up our 8th stay in 5 years, we are still absent anything we could complain about.

Kudos, by the way, to the new manager, Alex A, and his amazing team. Particular compliments from our most recent trip are very much in order for Luis at Check in, David at Valet, Alejandro at 1500 (Host), Ana (Breakfast) at 1500, Matthew at 1500 (Dinner), and Tommy at the Cabana Bar!

Try this hotel. It does not disappoint!

Eden Roc is a great place to stay. It's a few miles north of south beach and its easily accessible to the beach itself. Of you're looking for something that is close to the freeway to drive to other areas of Miami yet close enough to South Beach, this is the place to stay. The rooms are spacious and the showers have rainfall heads. I would definitely come back here. There is a resort fee of $25, but it comes with two beach chairs per night of stay for the beach, two bottles of water daily and two bar drinks. The beach is sectioned off to Eden Roc guests so its pretty clean and quiet.

In the whole the hotel is very nice. Excellent beach, rooms are clean and some of them are with stunning view (recommend to reserve in advance), stuff is quite friendly but one thing can spoilt it all… and it is Latisha Stafford the most disgusting reception officer I've ever met, she presents a combination of a complete lack of professionalism and a strange tendency to lie about everything, in addition she is not able to communicate with the guests in proper way.

As soon as we started our check in she offered us (me and my mother 27 and 46) the room for disabled, affirming it was a regular room and all the rooms in the hotel with such view are the same,

Despite some obvious facts proving special feature of the room: the location of furniture, two peepholes in the door (on top and on bottom), lower level of hangers in the closet, special shower and handrails in the bathroom and other equipment for disabled people which are clear she still insisted on opposite.
The funniest thing is that she were desperately lying untill it became a nonsense.

Silly, silly, very silly – shame on you Latisha Stafford!

Next day, I asked whether it is possible to lend U.S. adapter to charge the device (usually it can be lended at the reception), a nasty employee said roughly that the hotel never provided guests with such adapter and it was unusual for Miami she added that we should buy it in the kiosk. We had just arrived from New York where in two hotels we were helped to get such adapter. Thanks a lot Latisha!!!

Taking into account extremely unprofessional behavior and contemptuous attitude to the guests of such luxury and well known hotel, the best she deserves is to work in a zoo with animals... its really fits her))) Sorry but the work in hospitality is not for you Latisha...

P.S. Sincerelly hope she will be fired untill you visit this hotel.

We just returned from a 4 day get away at the Eden Roc.

We stayed here because we wanted to be away from the main outh Beach scene. The Eden Roc was wonderful, but a bit far from restaurants and the main SoBe area. The bus stop is just across the street so we took the bus to SoBe for dinner a couple of times and taxi’s back to the hotel later at night (taxi cost about $12 one-way – bus is $2 and if you get off at Lincoln St. You can take another south beach bus for .25 cents to end of the island. –Ask the bus driver – they were very helpful and friendly. )

About the hotel:

Rooms: Our room was beautiful. We loved the very comfortable bed with soft quality sheets and bedding, and the huge balcony. The décor was very stylish with a big modern bathroom, double sink and two wide spout faucets going into one big sink. The shower is a rain type shower in a room with a Jacuzzi tub. The doors open beyond the tub into the room so you can close the frosted glass doors for privacy, or keep them open for a view of the ocean while showering. The room was amazing. We had a flat panel TV, small refrigerator and a desk to set up a computer work or check emails, etc.

Resort Fee: We paid a $25 resort fee that included internet in the room, two free drinks, two bottles of water per day, and lounge chairs on the beach. The beach staff is very good at checking to make sure you paid the resort fee, otherwise they charge for the lounge chairs on the beach. (fyi it costs an extra $18 for an umbrella on the beach, the umbrellas in all the pool areas are free.) If you don’t like the beach and don’t plan to use a lounge chair on the beach, and don’t need internet in your room, you may not need to pay the resort fee. (not sure if this is optional, but I think it is.)

Pools: There are 4 pools. One adult pool on the top level - The hotel provides very comfortable rafts to float on in the adult pool area. They are only available in the adult pool. There is an infinity pool, a lap pool and a beach level pool that are for both kids and adults. During our stay none of the pools were over occupied and we could find chairs at any pool. All the pools are really nice depending on what you want. At the adult pool they have drink and lunch service. (They may have this service at the other pools but I did not see anyone during my stay.) The lower level pool near the beach is warmer than the others. There is a bar at the lower level pool, but it was only open on our last day there. There are two hot tubs near the infinity pool. The pools are open until 9pm or so – it does not seem that they have a closing time. (It was never very loud in the pool area after 6pm, so this is great if you want to take a late night swim or hot tub.)

Food: We ate at both the 1500 Restaurant (lunch) and Cabana Bar (happy hour snacks) – 1500 is an upscale restaurant with delicious food. We had a burger and the soup of the day and salad. It was remarkable and worth the price considering this is a hotel property high-end restaurant. (I kind of wish we had dinner there.) All of the restaurants in SoBe are on the expensive side; this was one of the best meals we had during our stay. The happy hour (4 to 6 pm) at the Cabana bar is a great value – $6 -$8 for frozen drinks, and beers for $3.50ish. I don’t think you would find a better happy hour special in a nicer hotel location.

Staff: Everyone from housekeeping, security, check-in, bell people, waiters/waitresses, were really wonderful. Almost everyone smiles and seems to genuinely care about the guests. 90% of the personnel shine with a true sense of customer service that goes beyond standard customer service training. I would give this hotel a 10 for customer service in every aspect.

Beach: The beach and ocean are amazing. The sand may feel a bit rough at first when you go into the ocean, but if you walk out about 20 yards it is all baby soft sand. The water level gets lower after you get beyond the initial slightly rough corally part. There is a sand bar and you can go out pretty far and still stay in 2 – 3 ft. of water. The waves were amazing. Big enough to be fun, but not too rough.

There is a board walk that starts right at the Eden Roc, but it was not what I expected. You can’t ride bikes on the board walk until you get to 23rd street. There are some other hotels along the north end of the boardwalk if you want to have a drink along the way, or explore other happy hour venues that are within a couple of minutes of the Eden Roc.

Overall this is a wonderful hotel, with great service and an amazing restaurant. It is a bit far from the main SoBe area. There is a big club next door (LIV) at the Fountainbleau for those who want a club scene close by. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the new building - with a balcony. Most of the rooms (at least on the pool side of the hote...

I attended a wedding here last weekend, and though I didn't stay, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the location, interior, service and food.

My husband and I arrived and drove to the front of the hotel, the valet opened my door for me on the passenger's side which was nice. They whisked our car away and we went into the hotel lobby. Tried to grab a latte at Starbucks but it was closed at 7:30pm. So we went down to the bar in the center of the lobby and had a cocktail. Bartender was nice, served our drinks right away. There was an automatic 18% gratuity added to the check, which we normally tip 20%, but I'm always annoyed when tip is included, especially when it's just for a drink.

We asked the bartender if she knew where the ceremony was, she wasn't sure, then came back to inform us it was outside. We watched the wedding party walk by a bit later, and a few guests, so we decided to follow them instead. Turns out the wedding was inside on the second floor. Good thing we're not ones to follow directions.

Ceremony was held in a room facing West and we watched as the sun set. Quite beautiful. Carpets are a bit out-dated with a large circular 80's like pattern on them, but everything was clean.

After the half hour ceremony we were escorted to cocktail hour. Bartenders were friendly. Hors d'oeuvres servers didn't speak much and didn't know what the appetizers were. Shrimp was bland and over-cooked. Falafel were dry. Hummus was good. And whatever was in the puff pastry was tasty. Pigs in a blanket... really? For the Eden Roc? I don't know, I'm assume the bride chose the menu, but seems like it shouldn't have even been an option.

Then we were escorted into the main hall for dinner. We were locked out for a few minutes and had to track someone down to let us in, but no big issue. Sat, watched introductions, had dinner, danced, called it a night. The room was much too large for the amount of guests. I'd say there were about 95 people and you could easily fit double that. The dinner was okay. Chicken delicious, prime rib not so much, rice was boring. Salad typical wedding food.

Don't think they got the cake from the hotel, but there was ice cream served - nice little feature.

We chose not to stay at the hotel since the room rates were $300+ per night. But we were allowed access to the beach front and amenities as the bridal party was staying there, so that was nice.

I understand the hotel used to be quite glamorous in the 50's and what not, but today it just seems like your average hotel. Not sure it would be worth the price to stay there though the location is right on the beach.
