“THIS PLACE IS A DUMP”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

If you are just looking for a location I guess this place is located in a fantastic area of Miami; however; if you like living like civilized people then this place is not for you.......there is crap everywhere, bugs, filth, terrible odours, no free valet again, extra charges for unwanted things such as a breakfast.....the place is just UNFIT for people who take care of themselves.....the staff at the hotel is very friendly and they try so I don't blame them at all.....the hotel is just a DUMP.

Room Tip: Doesnt matter where you are in this place its just a run down place no matter how much staff tries t...

Thank you for your review. We regret that you were not pleased with the hotel. Describing the hotel as a dump seems extreme. We believe if there was filth everywhere we certainly would have been shut down a long time ago by the powers that be seeing we are, like all other hotels in the area, inspected bi-annually by the state. Our hotel is also serviced twice a month by our pest control company. Our housekeepng staff services our rooms daily. With that said, there is no such thing as free valet in the area. This is because most hotels do not have designated parking lots and are forced to outsource parking to a valet company. This is the reality of South Beach. As a hotel we certainly cannot be everything to everyone, however, as you stated our staff works very hard to ensure that our guests are pleased. We also ensure that we continuously strive to improve both the hotel and our service.

Me and my girlfriend are both in our 20s from London and we booked 2 weeks to Miami staying at the beach plaza hotel, Collins Avenue. First off let me just point out that i/we have stayed in some top class 5 * hotels in Europe, Cuba etc so have experienced some superb luxury hotels in the past. When booking Miami we knew we were going to be out and about more and doing all the trips so a budget style hotel was what we booked and we didn't expect much.

This hotel delivered and it was a wonderful experience to be part of it. The rooms were spacious, modern and very clean. The whole hotel including rooms had excellent air conditioning which you needed as it was very humid this time of the year. The reception was cute and clean and the staff were really friendly. Special mention to "Kevron" who was the hotel porter during the week (he was off weekends) and he was an absolute joy throughout our whole stay and we ended up making really good friends with him. He always smiled and was such a gentleman and excellent at his job. Another special mention goes out to "Brian" who is the small Morrocan guy tour operator who sits at the desk opposite the reception. He was always looking to help you out with info and different stuff without forcing anything onto you and he was a superb guy in which we also made really good friends with. I highly reccomend going to him for any info.

Location? best location on south beach by a country mile. You literally walk out the front and you're in the heart of Collins avenue, walk 30 seconds up 14th street and you are on Ocean drive and right on the beach. The location was just brilliant and it was awesome to know a long hot day at the beach was followed by a short walk back to the lovely air conditioned hotel. Also great to know that a big night out at a nightclub or a nice meal out was followed by a short walk back rather than spending money on a taxi.

By no means is this hotel the " Ritz " , it's not a luxury 4/5* complex and you shouldn't be expecting this coming here. But it's a lovely little boutique hotel that i really can't figure out how or why it get's negative reviews. If you want to stay luxury then shell out another $900 + and go and stay at the Loews hotel down the road. That's a luxury hotel near the beach plaza and you probably get what you pay for there but if you want a cheaper, comfortable, decent and clean hotel with nice staff then stay at the beach plaza.

Negatives - Everywhere has negatives so i have to put mine down and give it a balanced view. The breakfast i felt could of run for a bit longer, the times were from 8 - 9.30 AM and although it was nice getting up and having the whole day ahead of you, it would of been nice to have that option to have a late breakfast if we were out late the night before. A few times we missed breakfast because we got up to late. I also felt the breakfast was a bit basic and could of varied a little more. I didn't mind it for a few days but having the same thing everyday was a bit repetitive after a while.

( Also Miami was a blast, loved the place and loved the whole vibe. We did all the trips like Key west, Everglades, Biscayne baycruise, Jungle island and had a superb time in every single one of them. We will always cherish these memories and this holiday and will definetly return to Miami in the near future)

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We do appreciate the fact that you were very thorough. It gives us an even better perspective on the guests' impressions. We are seriously considering adding more items to our continental breakfast to make it more appealing, especially for long stay guests. We will have our garden restaurant opening soon and are looking forward to offering a full breakfast. See you again soon!

Well if your looking for a b&b that resembles Blackpool interior.. This is for you! The hotel was decorated so depressing and spooky! It was clean and close to the front- that is the positive side. However wouldn't recommend this. I assume we must of had a bad room, some of the photos look ok. The public areas are depressing. Only use this hotel for a place to sleep.

Great location.....2 min walk to the Beach, 5 min walk to Lincoln Dr, restaurants and bars are everywhere. The rooms are not super updated but clean. Good enough for the time we spent in there. Continental breakfast is ok....muffins, bagels, yogurt, fruits etc....
Would return again, good price for the location!!!!

Room Tip: Ask for amrenovated room...we had two rooms and one was a lot nicer than the other one.

This hotel is right in the middle of everything there is to offer in the South Beach Miami area. The hotel offers a Hookah Bar, rooms are very clean, hotel staff was extremly friendly and helpful, they do not have a pool but offer beach supply rentals. Bar was very affordable, and they had a nice patio for hangout. I would definately book this hotel again!!! Beach is 1 block away, Lincoln road is in walking distance and club Cameo, Dream, SOBE, and Atrium are within walking distance. Again, room was very clean, bathrooms looked newly rennovated, hardwood floors, nice bed with clean sheets. I do not understand the negative comments.. This hotel is a great find. Thank you Beach Plaza and I will definately return!!!

Room Tip: King rooms are spacious, have a walk in closet section and mini fridge. I beleive the ACs are built...

First off...if you're trying to spend time out of your room and enjoy the heart of S.Beach, this is your spot. Clubs, convenient stores, the beach, scooter rentals, and shops are within 2-3 block radius.

The Staff: They were very very helpful...especially the Panamanian woman with the bright smile and (at the time) long braids. The doormen and valet drivers all aimed to please. We had an issue with our shower not working on the 1st floor so we were moved to a bigger room on the second floor. (the move made us late for a gathering but we made it)

The Room: Very clean, no fridge or microwave, ok continental breakfast, old structure, low pressure shower. The pictures on here are pretty accurate. Wooden floors are old but the room serves its purpose.

The outside seating area was good for people watching while having coffee or a beer.

I want to say I'd return but I'll probably search for a better spot for my next visit.

I paid $92/day + $25/day valet (so worth it) +about $15 for fees...

Our staff is very helpful in ensuring that our guests are accommodated. While our regular rooms do not have microwaves or refrigerators, our suites all have kitchenettes with sinks, microwaves, refrigerators, dining tables. We are currently refreshing our rooms so hopefully when you return you will see different floors. See you soon!
