“Nice Art Deco Hotel in Miami Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014

It's a very nice Hotel, well located on Ocean Drive. The staff is helpful and you can have your beakfast on the terrasse, one step from the Beach. All the Hotels on Oc.Dr. are noisy because of the music of the bars, but, at the Beacon you can ask to have a room on the back of the Hotel, no see view, but no noise! All the rooms are well furnished, bed is comfortable and... you have a chair that you can take with you to stay on the Beach!

Room Tip: on the back, no see view but less noisy, except in the morning with the bin lorry/garbage truck. But...

This boutique hotel in the South Beach Art Deco area was a fantastic place to stay. Right on Ocean Drive opposite South Beach. Even in January, the weather was perfect. Restaurants everywhere with great food. A short walk to transport and the hop on/hop off tourist bus. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the porter who moved our bags about a block away to catch a cab. Ocean Drive was closed for the ART Deco festival - an extra reason for staying there there on this special weekend in Mid January.

Room Tip: Rooms on the outer wing have some outside chairs in a garden area to relax in.

I got a good price from Hotel Tonight App. The room was nice. Large bed, linens fresh and crisp, lots of pillows, attractive decor, flat screen tv, wifi worked in room, the night staff was superior and the clerk at the desk saw that I was in a hurry to check in for keys and go to a gala but I had to use the bathroom lobby and I went to it but janitors were in it and he came from around the desk in the next room to let me in the fitness room to use that bathroom without me asking. The valet was fast and nice also. Breakfast is included in the deal and it wasn't just continental, it was a smaller version of hot breakfasts they serve at the hotel restaurant which are better than most hotel included breakfasts, but kind of small in size and nothing special on flavor. The coffee was not premium as I expected, but they serve it during the day also along with hot chocolate and tea. Our waitress sucked but that pales in comparison to the hotel staff. The ONLY negative to our room was the bathroom had a strong odor of mildew in it which I noticed specifically in the am. They asked me and I told them so I am sure they will rectify that, and it isn't unexpected in an old hotel. The bathroom was impeccably clean and updated except for the tiles on the wall and the ceiling so it may be old damage there? I stayed in 403.

Room Tip: There are rooms on the side of the hotel that aren't off the strip for quiet.

Being welcomed by a wonderful staff in the reception set the scene for our stay. We spent 5 days at this fantastic hotel. This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is very rare to find. Great location, very clean and well equipped rooms, beach chairs, towels, cold water in the reception, the list can be made very very long. Fantatsic Place. You miss out on something if you don't visit the Beacon Hotel.

My wife wanted to go somewhere warm and her passport just expired so we chose Miami Beach. After looking at a ton of places we decided on the Beacon. We wanted a South Beach experience close to the beach, this fit the bill. Free breakfast was great, not just a bagel but omelets, pancakes, a few other good ones. Walking distance to the beach with beach chairs provided in your room. Umbrella for rent at the beach for $15 all day. I recommend trying out Decobike, an inexpensive way to ride the boardwalk and see a lot of the area. Food in the area a plus, anything you want. We tried Havana 1957 for Cuban and Otentic Fresh Food for French, a place we found by accident that turned out to be the best meal of the trip.

As far as the room, we booked a ocean view that really didn't have a view, palm trees blocked view. After the first night we wanted to change rooms because there was too much noise on the street for us. Not a problem for the front desk, they bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and slept good the rest of the trip. Rooms a little on the small side but that cuz this place was built in 1937 but beautifully renovated in 2010. Nice rooms and very comfortable beds. We would definitely recommend!

If you want a hotel right in the heart of the South Beach activity, this is it. Quaint historic hotel redone with a modern theme. Staff is "Wonderful"! Remembered us by name. We did not realize were staying during the heart of spring break time, so the craziness was a bit much for us. Very loud. But a stay on the outside of that time puts this hotel in a great location. Direct walk to the beach.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room with an ocean view on an upper level so as to see over the trees.

Fantastic Hotel with an amazing location with plenty of Art deco features. We had a big room overlooking South Beach which was clean and well equipped, including beach chairs to take out for the day! Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.
