“A great spot to stay in South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

The Beacon is centrally located in South Beach to catch all the sights and sounds of the area. The beach is right across the street and there are bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The rates were affordable for the central location and valet parking was only $20 per night. Although the room was small, it is an old hotel that was very nicely renovated. A great feature of the hotel was towels and chairs in the room for use at the beach. All the staff, especially Reynaldo the bellman, were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included at the sidewalk restaurant and was very good as well. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location - right in the heart of South Beach. Free breakfast always a plus. We were there for only 1 night so did not get a room with a view of the ocean. The staff was great - helpful in everyway. We did not take advantage of the free beach chairs but would have if we stayed longer. The rooms are stylish but on the small side but you have to expect that from the time period when this was built. Loved being able to walk anywhere in South Beach. I would recommend this to anyone.

I booked the a room at the Beacon for my wife's 41st birthday. We love South Beach and I wanted to stay in one of the boutique hotels right on Ocean Drive. I had read some bad reviews for several of the boutique hotels in South Beach and was a little bit nervous when I booked at the Beacon. My fears were gone the moment we arrived. The lobby was great, combining modern upgrades with original art deco charm. The staff could not have been nicer. Julio and Reynaldo are the best! They even brought us a complimentary bottle of champagne. Our room was very clean and modern. Although the bathroom was small, it was nicely upgraded and added to the charm of the place. The room came with beach chairs, robes, refrigerator, flat screen t.v., iHome, and awesome, clean bed linens. I had heard that the party noise on the strip could keep you awake, but on the 4th floor, we were able to sleep fine. The complimentary breakfast was great out on the front porch. The location is right in the heart of the South Beach strip. We definitely plan to stay at the Beacon again!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to ocean front. It was not much more and worth the view!

Great location. Free breakfast was nice. Free beach chairs were awesome. Didn't hear a thing once I went to bed. Was hooked up with a cheap shuttle to the port too. Room was very nice and very clean. Marble floors should be a must at all hotels...no musty smell. Great stay!

Stayed at the Beacon for 2 nights for a conference in Miami.
Pros: This hotel is right across of the beach on Ocean avenue. There are beach chairs and towels in the rooms for quick and easy access to the sand. Nice plus. The hotel is in a prime location and within easy walking distance to almost anything in South Beach. The hotel rooms are small, but full of character. No, they are not the Hyatt rooms, but they are nice. Sure some of the towel racks arent completely level and the sink is a little low, but everything is clean and in working order. The bed is comfortable and noise was not a problem. Big fan of the free wifi and fresh hot coffee in the lobby. I didnt get a chance to try the breakfast, so I cant comment. The staff are friendly and the stay was comfortable.
Cons: room is a little small, which may make it perfect for non-business activities...but a little small for work related stuff. Only one other small issue which prevents me from giving the hotel a 5 rating was that when i arrived at the hotel...albeit a little late (around midnight), there was no one at the front desk and the lady at the bar/restaurant wasnt super helpful in finding the staff. The last thing anyone wants to do after a 3 hour flight is wiat more than 15 minutes to try to check in. Once the staff member arrived, he was friendly and courteous. Had i not been jet lagged and a little crancky, i probably would not have remembered it.
Overall, a great little hotel, if i return to Miami for a vacation, would definitely consider staying there.

Stayed here for a getaway weekend. The hotel is nice, it's a boutique, so smallish rooms, and so forth, but good location near the beach and lots of places to hang out and eat. Staff was great. Only drawback was that you could hear the music from downstairs from all of the bars until about 4am, so don't stay hear if you're an early bird.
