“Not just a number!”

Hotels are not home, but at Hotel St. Augustine, my husband and I felt like we were staying with family. From our arrival right up to the very minute we left, we felt like the staff knew us. James was not only accommodating, but entertaining and very helpful. He told us where to go for great dining, entertainment, shopping and beach time. Our room was like an upscale ship suite. It was clean, spacious and the shower was what everyone dreams of having at home. He and other staff made themselves available every time we walked in or out. In fact, the staff even asked us if we wanted to join them for their well-deserved lunch/time. Gave me the feeling of preparing to leave your parents' house and Mom asks if you would like to sit and eat before you leave. They don't give you the "pack, pay and leave. Only negative was the loud AC. But that is not the staff's fault. Maintenance should encourage its improvement. We have already recommended it to friends and family----and we are not even home yet. Can't wait to visit South Beach again. Just hope that James is there!

Small boutique hotel. Hotel hallway is a bit dark and outdated (definitely could use new carpeting) but the rooms themselves feel fresh and clean. They were also surprisingly spacious - plenty of room around the bed, large dual sink bathroom, and wonderful shower as many reviewers have mentioned.Good location to explore South Beach from and have a quiet place to come back to. Did not try the breakfast. Did not find the A/C loud as others mentioned but the bathroom fan in the toilet room was quite loud. Overall found this to be a good value for its location.

Clean hotel near the 3rd and Washington Av. Good breakfast, parking for 20usd / day, extremely clean rooms and bathroom. Rooms are a bit old fashioned and maybe need a little bit of refurbishing but all in all this is a great place to stay and a good valie for your money. Very frindly staff as well.

I was in Miami Beach for a conference, and chose this hotel due to it's location between the office, and the beach. I stayed in room 213, Tuesday April 14th to Friday April 17th.

The Good:
-The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the beach, and Ocean Drive. Close enough to enjoy the sights and sounds of South Beach, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle and the noise that goes with it.

The Not so Good:
-I guess it is personal preference, but the bed was hard, and the pillows were soft. The bed did not have springs, but sat on a platform, which made it even harder. I used three pillows stacked on top of each other.
-The room was clean, except that there was mold in the shower.
-While the room was large enough, it would not be very private to share with another person. The sink is in the room with the bed, and the shower door opens into the bedroom as well. The toilet luckily does have a door.
-There is a window in the shower that does not have a blind/covering. There is a streetlight outside this window, and so each night the bedroom was illuminated with the light through the window, through the shower. In addition, there was a large crack under the door, through which light shone.
-The "breakfast" is simply coffee in a thermos container, some juice, some dry cereal and danishes....nothing more. We used to call this a "continental breakfast"...but, seems the hotel is being a bit misleading by calling it a breakfast, in which one would assume it would include eggs, sausage, biscuits, etc...
-The staff was o.k. No one was rude. However, no one went out of their way to be helpful or outgoing either.

The Bad:
-The air conditioner cooled nicely, but it was LOUD and rattled. The first night it vibrated so much that the glasses on the counter made noise and shook, (I removed the glasses the following night). I could also hear the a/c come on in the room next to mine!
-The Roman Shade on the window is broken. One can raise it...but, it is haphazard and hangs crooked.

All in all, it looks like the hotel has been updated a few years ago, the furnishings are newer in style....but, it is all a little "rough" now. The hotel could use some TLC...replace window coverings, quiet the a/c, invest in new bedding, etc...

If I return to this area of South Beach, I would consider this hotel again, if the price were right, and others nearby didn't seem any better at this price point.

It is just o.k.

3 blocks from the beach. Smiling staff. Great continental breakfast in the morning. Only 2 blocks from Ocean boulevard action. Favorite boutique hotel in SOFI. Large Steam shower in the spacious room. Close to great restaurants.

Room Tip: $20 parking is very convenient. Leave the car and walk.

The hotel is located just at the end of the Art deco district with nice yet charmingly renovated rooms and an amazing shower (the best we had in the whole USA). The staff is very friendly.
But now it comes:
The idiot who designed the air con system should be flagged all the way to Canada. If the AC is on, it's noisy like inside a compressor, if off, you hear the bloody annoying low frequency hum of various other AC in a dissonant concert.
Take this hotel if you are deaf or like to sleep in an airplane, if not, stay away...

Very nice and helpful staff - James has given us great tips for things to do. Great location, just a stone throw away from the main attractions of South Beach. The room was nice and spacious. The breakfast is quite basic, but enough to get us going in the morning.
