“Budget option with central location! ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

Really good value in SoBe! The rooms were just ok and it's great for if you don't want to spend too much time in your room. It's right in the middle of the action on ocean road and south beach is directly across the road. Restaurants line the street so you have many options. Shops are one street down and all nightclubs about a 5-10 minute walk!

Only thing that was abit dodgy was that they don't have storage rooms when u leave your luggage at reception after checking out. They just like the hallways with them.

Small room and tiny bathroom with a bad bed and street light making it seem like a gloomy day all night long made the Starlite a bad choice. The surly check-in person was a preview of the room experience. The location is the only thing the Starlite has going for it. Parking is a pain there so hunt up one of the garages first thing.

We were a bit hesitant checking in since we knew the lobby was razor thin, and it was, but when were notified that we had been upgraded to front beach-view room we were feeling pretty upbeat..and it continued when we saw the big twin corner windows looking out to the beach & activities! And, the room was very large..with 9 feet of extra room at foot of bed so to move around..plus a sofa/2 chairs, small fridge, nice double sliding door closet with upper shelf..and the rest room was updated with nice Italian-looking marble tile (ceiling too). Oh, had hot water on demand..nicest car parking service attendant out front..and plenty of nearby sidewalk cafes to dine morning or night. We were attending the Clemson/Ohio St Orange Bowl Game 12 miles away, and it was easy to get car & return it in AM to lobby staff. A surprise..and the best price we found in that two block area due to Holiday period.

Room Tip: Ask for a beach front room on 2 or 3rd floor..and don't worry about the Wet Willie's next do...

We have spent only 1 night in this hotel even if originally we wanted to spend more. The staff (mainly the manager) was very unfriendly and event aggressive. The shower didn't work and in order to take a shower we were told to use other room which was just left but other guests so we took the shower in the dirty bathroom. In general the place is not very clean and old. The rooms are very noisy and small.

In the middle of everything on the south beach, this hotel is in an excellent location, with the beach right across. You may find better deals for a block or two away from the beach.

The rooms were small, but were clean and comfortable. Unlike other reviews, housekeeping was done to our rooms. There was no disturbing noise from the cafe downstairs or ocean drive. Beach towels are available. Ocean view room did not add much because of the park in between(may be rooms on higher levels have a good view). The cafe is okay and a bit pricey for what you get.

We made two separate bookings and they wanted us to shift rooms. Despite informing, they called us during the day and asked us to shift. But they were helpful in packing our things and keeping it safe until we returned to check-in to the new room.

Overall, a stay with not much to complain...

Stayed at this hotel for 10 days. The room was neat, clean and the price was right!! There was a mini-refridgerator, microwave, flat screen TV, two beds, sofa bed, small table and chair; bathroom was nice. We had an ocean view room which was lovely. Looked out the window everyday and saw lots of activity, it was great. If staying in an ocean view room though, then you may have to contend with some late night noise coming from the street down below. The noise isn't so loud though, so don't worry; it's part of the Ocean Drive ambience.

The maid and front desk staff were courteous. Check-in and Check-out was quick and convenient (We had late night checkin (1:30am) and checkout (1:00am) with no problems). (There is a $US100 deposit that would be returned to you at the end of your stay provided that you return their apartment in the same condition you met it.) Note one thing about the restaurant staff at this hotel and all the other restaurants that line Ocean Drive though: they literally beg and lure you to eat at their establishment! (Tip: Just cross the road to avoid all the heckling.)

We generally have no complaints really about the place though. Its a standard hotel, nothing fancy. It did its job of providing a comfortable roof over our head while in Miami. We pretty much were never in the room anyway as we went shopping everyday (Dolphin Mall, Aventura Mall and Sawgrass Mills to name a few!!) The location was perfect. Within walking distance to everything such as restaurants, groceries, supermarkets, cinema, stores and the beach. If you want to venture outside of South Beach, transportation is also easily accessible if you walk to Washington Avenue. You can take a bus and head into downtown or any other location. (Tip: Purchase an Easy Ticket for the bus as it will save you time and money if you plan to make many trips using the bus. Having a smartphone with GPS also comes in handy).

I have no hesitation in recommending this place for those looking for a no-fuss, reasonably priced accommodation on Ocean Drive, South Beach.

Room Tip: The rooms with the ocean view are nice, but may be closer to the noise on the street.

I was in Miami for 3 days and this was the hotel my friend has booked for us. The hotel was very underwhelming. The staff were not the least bit concerned with our needs. (asking for extra pillows wasn't an option seemingly) The lobby was constantly loud throughout the night (somewhat understandable for being on oceans drive, but I didn't enjoy it.) If you have the extra money I'd recommend staying somewhere with more amenities. This place isn't bad if you plan on spending no time in the room.
