“Fab Hotel in great location, but needs tweaking!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Loved this hotel for its location, art deco feel, nice pool and beach access. I stayed twice in April. The first room was very basic and I really appreciated the upgrade to a pool view on my return. The ice machine was a pain - why do hotels in the US have ice machines!? Breakfast was basic, but the big bummer for me was nowhere in the hotel could you make or get a cup of tea/coffee out of breakfast hours. No wifi was also an issue. Great location and overall I loved it!

Room Tip: The pool view rooms were nice, but ask to be away from the ice machine Grrr.

The hotel itself is a throwback to the Art Deco era of an earlier more pleasant Miami Beach. The rooms while on the smaller side are quite comfortable. The front desk staff and restaurant staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The pool area was fairly well maintained, although a little extra effort there would not hurt. My only complaint was the housekeeping staff, they always cleaned your rooms close to 5 PM, and failed numerous times to bring fresh towels. I repeatedly had to call the front desk to have towels brought to the room. In addition, in the 6 days I stayed there not once did they clean the bathtub and remove the mildew stains that were present upon check in. I purposely did not bring this to their attention to see if they would clean it on the own without a request from a guest.

We felt like we stepped back in time! Although our first room assigned to us had the air conditioner off the wall that looked like the person fixing it had been scared by a ghost and abandoned his job mid fixing (and the room stank of mold because the carpet was wet). Our next room was fine. Not going to say it was great because the furniture and the room needed a makeover BUT after all that, the hotel is classic and very central! I would stay here again. But would probably ask to look at the room first.....

Room Tip: look at the room first

We stayed at this hotel for my boyfriends birthday for 2 nights before leaving on a cruise. We were upgraded to a ocean view/pool view room and to 2 welcome drinks. Our room was at the end of the hall right next to the ice machine. We thought that would be a problem but surprisingly you could not hear the ice machine very often and it did not disturb us at all at night!

Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Front desk staff was very helpful, they even showed my in laws how to get back to the highway after they dropped us off and let them leave the car out front for a few minutes so they could come see our room and walk down to the beach real quick.

Would stay here again when traveling to South Beach.

Room Tip: If you get a ocean view room you may not see the ocean depending on the floor you are on because of...

We stayed in this hotel 2 years ago and we found it charming.
Sadly, this time around the standards have dropped dramatically.
The building itself is art deco but you can clearly see that it is need of refurbishment.
Cleanliness is no longer a priority; the carpet in the hallways was dirty throughout our stay and all the corners were dirty and our room had a strong musky smell.
The elevator was quite slow, so we took the stairs only to see that they were also dirty- as if they didn't think that the guests would ever use them.
The air conditioning is noisy and there's a lot of light seeping into the room from the hallways through the door frame which caused us to sleep very badly.
The location is great though, super close to the beach, bars and restaurants. Aroma Espresso Bar is a must try for coffees and lunch- two blocks away.
They charged us $ 38 dollars parking for one day, when one block down towards Ocean Drive there was a car park with $ 15 per day!
The wi-fi was also extortionate at a charge of $ 10 per day and if you wanted to use their business centre, 5 minutes access costs $ 1.75. This is a city that offers free wi- fi in most cafes!
The staff were pleasant and helpful, shame about the greedy proprietors...

Dear guest,
I'm sorry you 2nd visit wasn't a better experience. Our housekeeping staff maintains the rooms, hallways, and elevators on a daily basis. Did you get a chance to report the noisy A/C unit to the the front desk. We have engineers on duty to handle these types of issues. All the hotel door frames, and door jams are sealed, but obviously we have an issue. I will will bring this to the attention of the Maintenance Director to check all the doors. We offer valet parking with unlimited 24 access for $35 per night. This is on average with other hotel's in the area. There are cheaper options on the beach, but the are not valet parking, they are not 24 hour access, they make you pay again every time you take your car out. We offer WIFI @ $10 dollars for a 24 hour period. but we have no hidden resort fees. The hotel proprietor's are absolutely not greedy people. The Richmond Hotel offers the resort experience, at a more modest rate.
Thank you,
Front Office Manager

Booked this at the last minute and got a great deal. We checked in an hour early which wasn't an issue and the girl on reception was really helpful and chatty, and kindly gave us a free upgrade. I was really impressed how well the hotel has been maintained to keep original fixtures and fittings. The room was reasonably big, clean and very bright, comfy bed also. A two minute walk from bars and restaurants. Valet parking was fine, a little pricey but cheaper than parking on the street. Overall a great time in South Beach.

Stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. It is a smaller run hotel that provided the basics but had a real issue with the water i.e. trying to get the right temperature was a step too far as it was impossible to achieve this. As a hotel it was clean but is quite a well worn hotel that does need redecorating and sprucing up as it has great potential. Staff were helpful and courteous. However, for those that like or need more pampering then this is not the hotel for you. However, what it does offer is a cheaper stay particularly if you are more interested in being near all the amenities i.e. the beach is only a short walk from the hotel, there is a good pool at the back of the hotel, it is within walking distance from the shops and restaurants. I would stay there again for a few nights but would not book it for longer.

Room Tip: had a room at the back - it was quiet apart from people banging doors in the morning not a lot of so...
