The hotel frontdesk & the housekeeping staff were very unfriendly. The room was dirty, there were stains on the carpet, chair & furniture. The only thing the housekeeping did, was given us fresh towels, making up the bed and emptying the dustbin. There were people in the hotel who had an even dirtier room than ours (coffee on the furniture, dirty sheets, etc) and they asked for an immediately cleaning, but the frontdesk management told them that it wasn't possible. They couldn't go to an another hotel because everything in Miami was fully booked. As for the pool & the whirlpool, we never saw it getting cleaned and was rather dirty on the floor aswell. This was definitely our first & last staying at the Richmond Hotel !!!

Bad: No welcome. The other hotel we stayed in in south beach was a screaming contrast with this hotel in every way. (It was the royal palms) People can't be happy all the time, but if good and accomodating service is important to you, you may want to look elsewhere.

Our bed was a sofa bed. We pulled the lumpy mattress off the springs and layed it on the floor.

It made the next hotel we stayed at look like a palace.

If these two things would change, we would stay there again. But only if it changes. Overall we were happy to check out of there.

January 16th  January 20th For the most part, the Richmond Hotel is not a bad outfit, especially if you obtained your stay as part of a package deal thru some promotion. It s located in a GREAT area and it s right off the beach. If your from  The South , like myself, you ve probably been spoiled by the novelty and spaciousness that most name brand hotels(3 star and up) in The South offer, and unfortunately, the Richmond Hotel severely lacks those two qualities. However, MOST OF THE HOTELS IN THAT AREA(lower Collins Ave.) are the same way, so don t be fooled!! I emphasis again it is simply going to be a matter of choice. The hotel is located in the heart of all the fun and excitement in Miami and the South Beach area, so if it s luxury that your looking for, this IS NOT the hotel for you. As I stated in my title, you will have to pick your poison in this situation. From my own experience, I enjoyed my stay, the staff was courteous and the room was  fairly clean; all in all, I would recommend The Richmond if your looking for an inexpensive Miami get away!

I read the reviews below and they scared me away from this great hotel!
My friend and I decided not to stay here after reading all the comments about bugs and dirty rooms. We went to the Richmond out of curiousity and it was wonderful- just as nice as the pictures! We sat in the cool hot tub and asked all of the other residents about thier rooms, and they all said they were clean (small, but clean) and were very happy.
Next time, I will be staying at the Richmond.
